    I mean if you're only going to give him 1 you might as well give him zero. Make it a race back into/out of the dugout and if the entire defensive team is in position before the scheduled batter is in the box the pitcher can begin throwing pitches. That'll speed the game up! The old boys friggin love hustle too that'll fire them right up!

    Rodon is a ticking time bomb but if Pearson sucks or is injured again this year his stock is gonna drop significantly. If you’re a legit contender and Rodon can help you win this year I’d probably do it. I also bet there is another arm you could target for Pearson+ with a higher floor. I’d rather have a guy like Berrios or Logan Webb for example who might not be valued as high.

    I agree with everything Jim has said. Moreno is likely going to still catch, but he will move around the diamond and play some third and potentially some second too eventually. He’s like a Dodger dream player

    It has nothing to do with disrespecting your favourite player and more to do with constructing a team that has depth. Going into the season with Espinal as a starter is a terrible idea. I don’t care if he’s the back up IF. Good chance he is. But nobody can argue that the team wouldn’t be better equipped to handle injuries if he’s the first man up from AAA.

    Yes he could be but that would be a disappointment Espinal in AAA provides a lot of insurance over the course of 162 games Minor detail at most. Kyle Seager or Eduardo Escobar would be useful additions to the 2022 Blue Jays

    I hate Seager's profile but still think he could be a decent stop gap option on a one year deal. He checks a lot of boxes -Good defender at third -Hits left handed -Cheap one year deal The Jays can't sign premium players at every position and there is a glaring need at both 3B and 2B. There are clearly a few hypotheticals to take over at third in the next year or two so signing a guy like Seager or Eduardo Escobar short term makes a lot of sense. Toronto is going to be an attractive destination for hitters either looking for an opportunity to rebound or somewhere to chase a ring. I'd be focused on spending more on pitching and shoring up the offense with cheap short term commitments. Espinal should start the year in AAA. Thats the kind of player good teams are able to call up when injuries occur.

    We’re all aware you have 10 days to accept the QO right? That offer doesn’t stay attached the entire offseason. You either take it or you become a FA. If Matz is offered the QO he’s taking it and $19M of the available ~$70M this offseason is going to Steven Matz right off the hop. That’s a giant no from me.

    Agreed. That money is far more useful invested somewhere else. It’s the same price they paid for Semien lol, it’s nuts to give that to Matz up front to start the offseason.
