    Let’s not act like Steven Matz wasn’t going to accept the QO before Ross could hang up the phone I know we don’t see eye to eye here but I have a hard time imagining a scenario where it makes sense for Matz to decline the QO if offered to him

    Matz has no idea how much money he’s leaving on the table by accepting the QO. All he knows is if he declines it is he’s turning down 18M guaranteed and attaching pick compensation to himself which is a negative for a guy in his tier. He likely accepts and enters the market in 2023 with no pick attached and a weaker class. Bye Steve thanks for the contributions

    That narrative exists because he’s done it lol. The Jays are good at player development. They wouldn’t still employ Pete Walker if he didn’t make them better. It’s reasonable to expect the team to identify and acquire players who they believe can outperform their projections under their leadership.

    Rankings are just someone else’s opinion, don’t take them as absolutes. If a player is within ~50 spots passed top 100 they’re probably pretty close in value Give me the player who is doing it in the majors already when everything else seems equal
