  1. Ya that is true. I also wonder how much the Jays aided in Yesavage’s development of that pitch as that might be a selling point for Imai along with a clear understanding of the splitter in the org Is having 60% of your rotation throwing a splitter and 40% a gyro slider giving teams too many looks at the same profiles? Might make Cease the better fit, I dunno!
  2. I wonder if Imai throwing the same arm side slider as Yesavage is a good thing or a bad thing when it comes to building the rotation from the front office’s perspective
  3. Bo and Imai Dont care that I went over by 1M it’s 2% Not married to Bo. If someone makes a ridiculous offer I’m 100% fine taking the comp pick and pivoting
  4. I think everyone recognizes this and that’s why it’s been a topic of discussion for like three years
  5. Ya I’d be surprised if they didn’t add somebody with control either via trade or FA. Pretty much have to
  6. Kinda doubt the FO wants three expiring starters in the rotation anyway
  7. And I don’t think Skubal is signing anything until he hits free agency. A Boras client about to sign the largest pitching deal ever Id honestly rather use prospects to trade for someone with control. Lots of starters to trade for. So much injury risk for a starter too I can’t say I’m a fan of taking that risk
  8. Yes for sure. Question is is it worth it for one season
  9. Right If he had his foot amputated he’d still take the option. He probably gets 20M for one year for sure as a FA so him taking the option is 100% a decision made by him saying there’s nowhere else he’d rather be. Pretty crazy tbh we finished last in the AL East last year
  10. Wow nobody could’ve predicted this Massive endorsement of the org from someone who was here for three months
  11. Dodgers gave up a pretty interesting arm in Eriq Swan for Alex Call who is actually pretty similar to Lukes other than handedness
  12. Strange move. Almost every player in this situation just opts out to secure more cash at a reduced AAV like Bregman will
  13. Really? Opting out is just a formality it seems, I bet he’s back in Boston
  14. I’m with you I’m not seeing the fit either unless it’s at a drastically reduced cost. He would be great as the fifth starter but obviously that’s the spot thst Berrios is going occupy next season
  15. As it stands today, the American League is wide open. There are no obvious heavy weights and I don’t think that changes after the offseason Of course making the World Series again would be difficult, but I don’t think it’s some Hail Mary sort of scenario
  16. That’s a fair point about his spray chart. I think in that scenario they’re just controlling the things that they can control. Varsho barrels everything I honestly felt fine giving him that AB and he’s too valuable defensively anyway to take out of the game Because the upside is limited on that play. Like you’re banking on him either scoring on a wild pitch/passed ball OR you’re going on contact which really doesn’t make sense to me with the infield in and only one out. You have Varsho and Ernie Clement on deck who had just set the league record for hits in a single post season. At the beginning of that AB you like your chances of scoring one if you don’t hit into a double play
  17. Could you imagine the outrage if IKF got doubled up on a ball smoked at Muncy? These things aren’t new. These players have been playing the same game their entire lives. Bases loaded less than two outs you’re guarding against getting doubled off. It is in the Baseball 101 book Part of what makes that play as close as it was was that Rojas ends up on his heels making that play taking a split second longer to transfer
  18. I’m thinking Peralta, Ryan, Lopez I think all three are in the last year of their contacts
  19. Can you QO a player you trade for in the offseason?
  20. What did Kershaw make this year? Cant give Max 15M again
  21. That’s how I look at it too. It’s the most obvious spot to make an impact move and we are extremely fortunate Yesavage broke out this month ahead of the offseason. I’d be fine with one year of Freddy Peralta honestly Looking at the lineup and there really isn’t much room to do anything right now aside from adding one bat which many want are hoping is Bo
  22. There are so many arms available King, Cease, Gallen, Valdez, Lopez, Ryan, Peralta, Gray, Bieber With a lockout looming and some of these teams acting like their SNAP got cut off Have to be aggressive in the upper echelon
  23. I’m not going to lie I haven’t watched a moment of any baseball coverage since Saturday night I scroll past it on X and I canceled my Sportsnet plus subscription lol
  24. Are we even sure Chris Bassitt is a guy you want to commit to as a reliever on a FA contract? Half of the reason he started getting innings was because he was throwing strikes and Schneids had no one else to turn to
  25. Something along those lines. At first I thought 7 years but that of course means 8
