Two pathetic offenses still going at it--Seattle and Chicago(we see them next week) are STILL tied at 0 in the 13th inning. And you thought the Jays had it bad..
Pathetic.
I'm switching my support to the A's, Rays and O's.. Jays better clobber Texas this weekend for the A's sake.
However, Johnson did pitch well--the bats were MIA..the west coast is not good for our bats.
Justin Grimm, who the Jays will see on Sunday vs. Josh Johnson(projected), got lit up vs. Boston. It's now 9-0 Red Sox. Oakland's starting to dream of 1st place now..
Oh boy--a hamstring/quad injury or something for Asdrubal Cabrera. Not good news for the Indians--this is almost as bad as us losing Jose Reyes. Detroit fans are probably rejoicing right now..
And BTW the injury looks bad.. he can't put any weight on it.
There'd have to be A LOT more in that trade. Pitching and position prospects would have to go in a deal like that as well.. we're not dumping Bautista for just Profar. Also, Texas won't be trading Profar anytime soon.
Any prices for trades of veterans will be sky-high--remember, no Qualifying Offers for the team that trades for a potential free agent. And Bautista and EE would cost nearly an entire farm system--and their multi-year deals are unmovable.
Josh Johnson will depend on whether he rebounds. Dickey is also unmovable due to injury/poor performance.
Oh boy.. Stephen Strasburg has left with an injury at the Washington/Atlanta game. Could be a devastating blow if he needs a DL stint--especially with Atlanta dominating the division. Apparently it's a neck/shoulder issue. Keep an eye on this.
The PTI guys said if Washington gets swept by Atlanta, Washington's season is all but over.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but scouting reports in the minors have been negative on Chien-Ming Wang, saying he doesn't deserve a shot in the rotation--he'd be worse than Chad Jenkins. In addition, he has decided not to opt out yet.
Brad Lincoln was decent with the Pirates--and Snider is struggling for playing time vs. Jose Tabata.
Esmil Rogers hasn't been used properly with the Jays. Plus, he did quite well in Cleveland last year.
Most teams would've traded for Colby Rasmus if they had the chance due to high upside potential. Even the Rays did this with Wil Myers(who's not deserving of a callup at the moment due to high K's and a middling average)
A lot of teams wanted RA Dickey, not just the Jays.
Maicier Izturis was a bad signing, I agree.
JPA has huge power--and D'Arnaud has yet to stay healthy for a full season in the minors. And there are worse catchers around (see Jesus Montero, Jarrod Saltalamacchia)
Tell that to the Angels, Dodgers, Nats, among others. Especially the Angels--Trout is going to be stuck on a bad team for years, as the Angels have many bad contracts, and no prospects on their farm, even fewer than the Jays.
And you can imagine the Red Sox would love to bury the Yankees right now--Yanks are about to lose 5 in a row, and have Baltimore and Tampa breathing down their necks. I can see the Sox sweeping the Yanks.. Overbay and Wells stopped hitting, Ichiro's been garbage, and Cano's their only bat close to .300 AVG. Not to mention Sabathia's pitching with reduced velocity.
All of the pitching matchups in the series favour Boston.
Heck no. Texas already has a RF and a 1B. They need more pitching depth--those young arms in Tepesch and Grimm are going to break down by later in the summer.
Don't be surprised if AA goes after Ackley.. especially if Seattle feels like giving up on him.
As I said, it could've happened to anybody. Jays weren't the only team interested. Rangers and Angels were apparently mentioned, along with Pittsburgh, Kansas City,Washington and the Dodgers.
