  1. Remember, De La Rosa has had a few 2-hitters, and even a 3-hitter vs. the Yankees this year--he's good!
  2. Not a serious setback considering the strong Tigers rotation, but concerning: Anibal Sanchez placed on 15-day DL with a right shoulder strain. They also lost their catcher as well: Alex Avila on 15-day DL with deep contusion in left forearm. SP Jose Alvarez and C Bryan Holaday have been recalled to replace them. Sanchez's injury is more a concern..especially considering his injury history.
  3. Gross! http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/eye-on-baseball/22444245/oco-coliseum-clubhouses-flood-with-raw-sewage-following-as-win A's need a new stadium BADLY...
  4. SWEEP! Only 5.5 back now--with a good chance to pick up ground as Boston gets the new-improved Rays(now featuring Wil Myers), Detroit gets Baltimore, and the Dodgers get the Yankees.
  5. BREAKING: Wil Myers called up to the majors, Ryan Roberts DFAd.
  6. Shut up! How about cheering the Jays for once.
  7. Boston needs someone to step up in their rotation--losing Buchholz could really hurt. And Baltimore's pitching is 2nd worst in the game, only ahead of the Houston Astros. They can't expect their offense to carry them forever.
  8. And of course we'll need to see if Baltimore can keep up their success.. their pitching doesn't scream contender unless their ownership actually spends some money/prospects for upgrades at the deadline. And Boston--despite their offense, an injury to Buchholz could be derailing to their success. Lester is regressing badly--back to his 2012 self. Their rotation is mediocre after Buchholz with Lester struggling(although Lackey's been OK.. but not getting any support). And that bullpen is due to regress sooner or later.
  9. And Tampa gets Boston this week--with no Buchholz(injury) and no Moore(significant regression) pitching. Good chance for us to gain ground on Boston. In addition, the Sox get Detroit next weekend.
  10. JPA is batting 8th today: Cabrera LF Bautista DH Encarnacion 3B Lind 1B DeRosa 2B Davis RF Rasmus CF Arencibia C Izturis SS
  11. If we can have a good week vs. Colorado and Baltimore, we have a decent shot of being in contention by next weekend. Yankees have a difficult schedule with the Dodgers and Rays, and the Rangers have first place Oakland and St. Louis. Baltimore gets the first place Detroit Tigers.
  12. Tex just left the game because Girardi says Tex doesn't have "snap" in his swing. I'm sensing another injury.
  13. No hitter broken up--Alex Hassan hit a HR off of Buddy Carlyle.
  14. Odorizzi and Colome aren't MLB ready. Odorizzi was lit up already this season..and who knows what Colome will do.
  15. Not again! What is it with Tampa and injuries like this? This could be a major blow to Tampa.. Cobb was a major part of their rotation.
  16. And Stephen Drew just followed up with a 2B.. 3-2 Boston now.
  17. While you said that, Carp just had a fish fry vs. the O's, hitting a 2-run HR off Garcia.
  18. Texas is going to be in for a tough ride after us.. Oakland comes in, then they go for a WS rematch vs. the St. Louis Cardinals. Then, they have the Yankees and Reds. If the Jays are going to make a move, this is the best time to start a streak--Texas is struggling, the Yankees can't score, Rays are having pitching issues(surprisingly)--and the O's still are a head scratcher--how can they keep winning with such mediocre pitching?
  19. One more half inning and it's an official game. C'mon MB!
  20. Back to the DL for Youk. Back problems again. He could be out a while. Adams goes back to 3B, Neal and Chris Bootcheck(hasn't pitched in the majors since 2009!) purchased from SWB. Things are falling apart in NY fast..
  21. Once Hutchison and Drabek come back, we'll have more depth in Buffalo(which is where they're likely headed). Luis Perez is rehabbing as well--Jays are going to need to make a decision on him soon too.
  22. Is it a wonder why the Mariners have no playoff appearances since 2001?
