  1. The reason I was disappointed in his response was because he forgets that he's going to the Arizona Fall League--there's no point in him or Nolin getting calls up and risking injury, considering they'll be pitching in the AFL soon. Calling him up now may prevent him from going to the AFL.
  2. Sorry--but until he pitches in AAA, he doesn't deserve a callup. Nolin didn't get called up either, as he also needs more time in AAA. On good orgs like the Rays, their pitching prospects actually have to get experience in AAA before getting consideration--is it a wonder they've developed so many good pitchers in recent years?
  3. Forgot to also mention the team can't call anybody up--Durham is in the postseason, and expected to make a deep run.
  4. Stroman on not being called up: “That feeling of being overlooked bothers me like nothing else,” Stroman tweeted Monday night. “I’m hungry! If you’re not starving, I can’t relate.” Well, despite what he wants and you fans want--it is best for him to come into Spring Training to earn a roster spot. Remember, he doesn't need to be on the 40 until next year--putting him on now starts his service clock. Plus, he is better suited getting time in AAA next year before even getting a callup--we can't afford to keep rushing young pitchers. Ditto for Nolin--despite the MLB callup earlier this year, it was out of desperation due to the injury bug.
  5. In reality. the Rays have a ton of slumping bats, including Longoria. They really needed to trade for another bat, but Rays ownership is broke--they can't afford offensive upgrades, and they still haven't got Jesse Crain back. Worse, Sam Fuld had to pitch 1/3rd of an inning in the 8th because their bullpen is taxed.
  6. What's up with Tampa? LA is embarrassing them again.. are the Rays so upset with attendance and the fact David Price is almost certainly gone after this season (trade) that they stopped caring about winning and scoring? At this rate, NY, BAL and KC are probably feeling better about taking a shot at the wild card spot.
  7. Boston lost to Detroit today. Boston better figure out how to beat Detroit this series--since they will likely face them in the ALCS or ALDS, they've got to find a way to beat them. Remember, this isn't some easy team they're facing--it's one of the elite teams they will need to play well against in October.
  8. Masterson hurt--bad news for Indians fans. Especially considering they're the weakest of the remaining contenders fighting for the 2nd wild card (Tampa, NYY, BAL, KC, CLE) While they're a high scoring team, their pitching is a bit thin--and their defense is awful, nearly as bad as this year's Jays(before guys like Goins got called up)
  9. Schoop is coming to the majors--Norfolk missed the playoffs due to a blowout win by Rochester vs. the SWB Railriders, and Norfolk losing to the Durham Bulls. As a result, Stinson, Schoop and Urrutia are being called up. Whether it's enough for Baltimore to make the postseason is another question.
  10. Yanks blowing out the White Sox coming back from a rain delay. Bad news for Tampa.. especially if they struggle with the Angels.
  11. Very true. It gives Boston insurance just in case Ellsbury ends up elsewhere (no way Boston wants a repeat of Carl Crawford).
  12. Well, Boston screwed up by trying him as a starter.. and of course there was the September collapse (which was partially his fault). Reminds us of Steve Blass, Dontrelle Willis, Ricky Romero, etc..
  13. Getting interesting--Yankees, Cleveland and Baltimore are within 3.5 games of sinking Tampa. And if Tampa struggles this week, Cleveland, Baltimore or NY will be in the 2nd wild card by week's end--Yanks have White Sox, and BAL and CLE are guaranteed to see gains as they're playing each other. Not mentioned in the race is Texas--they play a series vs. Oakland, a battle for 1st in the West. Royals are still in as well--5.5 back.
  14. Yanks win again. Tampa better have a good West Coast road trip--NY and Cleveland are on their tail, but Baltimore continues to struggle.
  15. Not much likely.. considering Garret Jones and Gaby Sanchez haven't done much, this is a good trade for the Pirates, as they try to make it to October for the 1st time since the Jays first won the World Series.
  16. Billy Hamilton coming up Monday! Good thing--they need that speed, as they try to get into the NL Central race and avoid the wild card(or worse, missing the postseason if the D-backs or Nats come back)
  17. Mariners aren't going to see much from Avery--he doesn't hit enough to be a regular, and is a 4th OF at best. Should've traded Morse sooner...
  18. Houston's not exactly profitable--and this could be concerning for RSN (regional sports networks) after giving such big deals--Dodgers, Angels, Rangers and other teams with big deals beware: http://www.forbes.com/sites/maurybrown/2013/08/29/erroneous-story-claiming-houston-astros-most-profitable-ever-a-massive-strikeout/
  19. Rajai's going to demand more in free agency..and we already have Gose and Pillar around.
  20. Another win for those Red Sox--and with Tampa and Oakland winning, the playoff picture is starting to crystallize more.. It's looking like: EAST: Tampa/Boston CENTRAL: Detroit WEST: Texas/Oakland WC: Tampa/Boston WC2: Oakland/Texas Yanks losing 4 of their last 6 may pretty much end any hope of them making the playoffs--ditto for Baltimore.
  21. Whatever. Oakland leads 8-5 in the 9th..Detroit better wake up. An A's win allows them to pick up ground on Tampa.
  22. And a 202 OPS+. If he doesn't win MVP, the voters are idiots. Good thing he's doing all this--Prince Fielder has had a disappointing season--not worth the $24M he's being paid.
  23. Cabrera continues to be a monster--43 HR/130 RBIs now after he homers off of AJ Griffin.
  24. Hughes is collapsing again.. no wonder he's 4-12.
  25. A piece of the A-Gone deal in 2011, Raymond Fuentes, has been called up to the MLB by the Padres, after tearing up AA and AAA. Let's hope he succeeds.. Kelly's been hurt and Rizzo's in Chicago.
