  1. I think we know who gets sent down when we add a position player--and it's likely Brad Lincoln.
  2. K-Rod didn't even get a deal until May--and it was only because Milwaukee's pitching is awful.
  3. Remember, a lot of teams wanted Dickey, not just the Jays. Texas was rumored--just be glad they didn't get him, or Oakland's in 1st place right now. Remember, the Mets wanted to trade him because they felt they couldn't afford him, especially with a rebuild. Travis D'Arnaud is not a sure thing--he's on the DL in Vegas right now. Noah Syndegaard is a long ways away--he's only in high-A ball. Mike Aviles is only playing because Lonnie Chisenhall still hasn't developed yet in Cleveland--and Aviles' numbers are a small sample size.
  4. Braves are at a serious disadvantage if Carpenter doesn't give them innings--they only have a 6-man pen(including activated Jordan Walden, who's a 1-inning guy at best.)
  5. Mets making David Phelps look like Sean Nolin tonight--Phelps is already out after 0.1 IP, after giving up 5 runs in the first inning. With Boston coming up, this is the last thing the Yankees need--a short outing from a starter, especially with 3 straight losses already. Remember, Boston is RED HOT--it's no surprise that team is in first place.
  6. No different than any other team. Heck, look at all the injuries in New York, St. Louis, etc.
  7. Andy LaRoche isn't in the lineup either--he may be on standby in case of a Lawrie DL stint.
  8. True--didn't help the Jays had their hands tied--Janssen was not available, and they would've needed to use a starter or a position player if the game had gone any further. No surprise they're looking to get some fresh arms.
  9. Ramon Ortiz warming in the pen--something must be up with Morrow.
  10. He's still better than Romero, though. But this is frustrating to watch..
  11. Too bad Buck's due back this week. But Matt Devlin's done a great job.
  12. How do the Braves even succeed? This team is high on Ks.. The ESPN guys said that the Braves need to cut down the K's.. their all or nothing offense is going to kill them later in the season, especially if Washington gets hot(still waiting!)
  13. Oh boy, is Romero a mess.. can't even get AAA guys out.
  14. Not for long. Oakland's closing in, as is Baltimore and Tampa Bay. And Cleveland's rotation is Masterson, McAllister, and a lot of questionable arms. Losing Perez and an effective Pestano could be devastating for the Indians, especially with tough games coming up with the first-place Reds, Rays, Yankees and Tigers, Rangers and Nationals.
  15. Talk about adding insult to injury for the Indians. Cleveland loses 3 of 4, 5 of their last 6, Pestano may be hurt due to reduced velocity in his last outing, and now Chris Perez is injured..looks like their strong start was a mirage(again).. looks like Detroit better enjoy the penthouse for a while. And Boston is now in first place---imagine how angry both the Yanks and Red Sox are going to be against each other next weekend when they play each other.
  16. That Cardinals depth is equal to or better than the Rays--and light years ahead of us, the Yankees and Red Sox. Now they just need to stop losing arms to injury..remember, like most young arms, much of their stuff may not be fully developed yet. Another thing..many of those Cardinals arms are working out of the bullpen with mixed results. And you left out Tyler Lyons. And another thing--Jenkins has actually pitched reasonably well. Don't forget, we have Drabek and Hutchison returning in the 2nd half as well. And what about Marcus Stroaman?
  17. Hard to say who gets called up for the Yanks.. Boesch is stinking up AAA right now.
  18. If you're going to bash Nolin being rushed, you can also criticize other organization for rushing certain pitchers like Chris Sale (10.1 IP in the minors), Mike Leake (0 IP in the minors), Rubby De La Rosa(also rushed from AA), among others.. not all organizations can be the Rays, you know. Many organizations can't just progress top prospects through the minors. Heck, Mike Trout and Manny Machado were actually rushed from AA to the majors as well.. most organization do this to top prospects that are too good for the minors. Look, there wasn't much the Jays could do.. Johnson is a week away.
  19. Did I say anything about the Jays? We're still too far back to be a threat... YET.
  20. Boston is falling apart--Middlebrooks on the DL with back spasms, Victorino also on the DL with a hamstring strain--and a tough schedule ahead with the Indians, Phillies and YANKEES.. this is the last thing they need. Iglesias called up to play 3B--but they had to call up Alfredo Aceves instead of JBJ for OF depth, because the Sox bullpen is quite short after Dempster's bad start. It's bad because it means fringe guys like Carp and Ciriaco will play regularly--and neither are decent options. Tampa, Detroit, Cleveland, Oakland and New York are likely licking their chops right now because of Boston's problems..
  21. You put Jenkins in twice--he's in the rotation until Josh Johnson comes off the DL next week, then the Jays will decide whether to keep him in the rotation, the bullpen or AA/AAA.
  22. We need a true long man that can eat innings. Don't want to end up burning up multiple relievers--like Boston did last night because Dempster failed to get to the 4th inning.
  23. Jenkins is in the rotation until Johnson returns in a week or two. Then, he or Ortiz goes to the minors.
