Like the Twins, however, pitching will be a major need if either team wants to contend long term. Pitching is a major weakness in both the Cubs and Twins organizations as it stands.
The Twins need guys like Gibson, Meyer, and May to pan out if they expect to contend long term, especially as the Tigers face paralysis from a coming Miguel Cabrera contract(likely $25-30M a year) and the risk their owner passes away, and they get sold to someone who slashes that team's payroll significantly due to the economic woes of Detroit.
As for the Cubs, they need rotation help--Jackson is a bust, Garza's gone at the deadline or at season's end, and Feldman will be trade bait to try to get young pitching, which is a weakness in the Cubs organization.
