  1. And now the O's lead. Sabathia's out. And he's been increasingly hittable this year.. it's part of the reason I consider Kuroda the Yankees ace now, not Sabathia. Note the declining velocity in 2013: http://www.fangraphs.com/pitchfxo.aspx?playerid=404&position=P&pitch=FA That contract extension CC got is going to haunt them soon..
  2. Although they did clobber the Twins recently..but that's a bad team that's played over its head.
  3. Now it's tied. Markakis just hit a 2B. I hope they stay tied for a while so that the O's waste the Yankees pen, although considering what happened vs. the Rays, that's going to be a tough sell for the O's.
  4. Right now we're chasing Boston and Detroit---Tigers have bullpen issues(did you see the Texas series?), and Boston has to cool off sooner or later. And we'll get our chances vs. Baltimore this weekend.
  5. Ryan Zimmerman blocking him--plus they'd rather give at-bats to Mike Constanzo in AAA. Just doesn't make sense. Get him up to AAA already!
  6. More umpire trouble--Eric Cooper just blew a call in the Yankees/O's game... Wieters was safe by a mile.
  7. Well, Johnson's on the way, Dickey's been pitching better.. and the bullpen remains a strength. We just need to hit. Still interested to see if Ramon Ortiz can keep pitching well tomorrow..
  8. Lester looking human so far in Chicago--giving up a 3-run HR to Adam Dunn. 4-0 Chicago(De Aza just doubled). Both he and Buchholz have to lose sooner or later..although Lester is more likely to lose first--Buchholz has much better peripherals.
  9. Small sample size--and we've played most of the games at Yankee Stadium, which is a house of horrors for us. And it's most likely pure luck. Remember, we've always been lined up against their good pitchers as well.
  10. OFs do this all the time--Jose's fine. Meanwhile, former Jay Yan Gomes just hit a walkoff blast off of Charlie Furbush--Indians just keep winning, and making it difficult for the Tigers.
  11. Thought it'd be Sierra--but Gose can play CF, and it allows them to keep Bonifacio either on the bench or at 2B. And with Jenkins not expect to start until the O's series, we might as well add a position player--we had 9 arms as is in the bullpen. Gose's AAA Buffalo numbers, FYI: .227 AVG, .343 OBP, 2 HR, 12 RBI, 36 R, 5 2B, 2 3B, 23 BB, 41 Ks. Hey, he still has to be an upgrade over Bonifacio..
  12. Game postponed. Dickey vs. Odorizzi tomorrow afternoon vs. the Rays. One of Jenkins or Ortiz will stay in the bullpen(likely Jenkins) This is actually a good thing for the Jays--they have time to rest for a big home stand vs. the Rays, Orioles and Braves(I'll be at the Orioles game, BTW)
  13. Just be glad we don't see him again until late August.
  14. Terrible night for Baltimore--the "punchless" Rays offense has 12 runs on them(Hammel, Alex Burnett, Patton). Better hope Jurrjens pitches well tomorrow... And Boston is struggling against Vance Worley, a bad pitcher for the Twins.
  15. Kuroda's just that good--0.95 WHIP with that 1.99 ERA. And yet he gets little respect compared to guys like Yu Darvish, Matt Moore, Felix Hernandez, etc. in Cy Young consideration.
  16. Gotta tip your hat to Hiroki Kuroda there--his ERA is down to 1.99! He's basically the ace of the Yankees due to Pettite's injury and Sabathia's reduced velocity. It gets easier--we get a wild Phelps and Sabathia with his reduced velocity tomorrow and Sunday. David Phelps, despite giving up 1 run in his last start, also walked 5 batters as well, and has been inconsistent this year. Good news for the Jays--Boston is losing, Tampa is blowing out Baltimore.
  17. Morrow is OK to start tomorrow: Barry Davis ‏@SNBarryDavis 11m Just spoke to Brandon Morrow. He feels good and says he will start tomorrow. #bluejays
  18. Darn Rodney... good thing the O's were idle. Hopefully the Rays save their wins for the Orioles series..
  19. Scott, Zobrist and Longoria are due up for the Rays in the 9th--unless Boston gets more runs, they're going to need to tread carefully..
  20. With a sweep this weekend, we could cut it to 5... As for Boston--this is the 2nd time in two weeks Rodney's blown a save(but only his 2nd BS of the season, surprisingly.) Still, the Rays have a shot in the 9th--who's going to close for Boston tonight?
  21. Wonder if we'll see a Dellin Betances sighting tonight?
  22. This is not a good thing for the Yankees.. bullpen's going to get wasted further, especially ahead of a big Jays series.
  23. Per Rotoworld: David Price left Wednesday's start against the Red Sox in the third inning with left triceps tightness. Not good. The Rays will provide an update on Price's status after the game, but he'll surely need a trip to the disabled list. The left-hander was charged with four runs on five hits and a walk over 2 1/3 frames before exiting. Chris Archer and Jake Odorizzi would be options to replace him in the rotation if Price does indeed need a DL stint.
  24. Let's not forget Jake Odorizzi--he's doing very well in Durham, with better peripherals than Archer. He'll likely get the call--he's scheduled to start next time Price goes.
