Kirk > Groshans Groshans hasn't done much in pro ball other than look handsome. Kirk, the opposite is true. I'll take the little meatball who demolished the entire minor league ladder over the Adonis who can't stay on the field, thanks. -
I might care more about the term than the AAV. Not sure I would want to marry him for 5+ years but I'd certainly be willing to pay him $20M+ per season. He's worth that AAV. I do however think Toronto would entertain a reasonable extension even with all the infield prospects on the way. I don't think they are counting on Smith or Taylor to be starters. Longshots for that, at least. Groshans and Martin could slide into the OF and 3B if they both work out. Biggio could be a super-utility playing LF/RF/2B/3B/1B. Orelvis and Hiraldo are a few years away so not really relevant to this. Generally speaking, giving big money to bats is safer. I have always liked the idea of spending on bats and developing / churning out pitching prospects.

Very likely that Vlad will be over .300 and Ohtani will be under like .280, so I think that one is already decided. BUT if Vlad somehow finished over like, .350, that's a brownie point with the old voters.

And a gold glove. If season ended today Ohtani wins it and I think easily. But this one could very well come down to other things like playoff teams or even something stupid like round numbers (what if Vlad hits 50 dingers and Ohtani stalls out at 41, etc.) Lots of season left.
