How about we call it none of those things and label it appropriately: A non-issue that is becoming a borderline conspiracy theory due to the degenerative effects of social media.
  2. I can't really understand hating on Montoyo for using Thornton. - Matz seems to be building up stamina again right now so it was reasonable to remove him after 68 pitches. Last outing he only threw 48. - Thornton has not been a complete/obvious disaster this year. HR rate is very high but the K and BB rates look fine. Big difference between his FIP and xFIP. He was a competent starter in 2019 so it is very reasonable for the organization to think that he will settle in as an above average middle relief option once the noise settles down. - Thornton is literally on the team to take the ball in situations like this when the starter can't go deep. It was the fifth inning. Toronto doesn't have 5 high leverage relievers to ride to the end of the game, even if they went to your favourite decent reliever in inning 5 they would have been hoping for clean innings from a couple of s***** arms later on. It had to be either Thornton or Anthony Kay to keep it close. There Kay's ERA was higher than Thornton's entering the game last night. The pen is weak but that's not Charlie's fault. stfu!
  3. Boston has ONE reliever on the IL right now. They have been so remarkably lucky this season, it's really incredible.
  4. Jake Arrieta really shouldn't be in the majors anymore. We are reaching a level of late career sadness almost as bad as Felix Hernandez. Much better to just get hurt and then never get a job again, like Cole Hamels
  5. Kay + Thornton piggyback, or something like that.
  6. why would the Toronto Blue Jays sign Sheryl Ring?
  7. Even for teams with $$$, the 40 man crunch is real.
  8. Recent history would say don't expect them to be tendered all the way through arb. I know 2021 was an aberration of a year but look at some of the relievers non-tendered: https://www.mlb.com/news/list-of-non-tendered-free-agents-2020-21
  9. Ross Atkins is cornering the market on perfectly cromulent middle relievers
  10. Sick trade f*** you Rowdy, I knew you sucked and went on the record about it and then you had to go and embarrass me with a mirage 133 wRC+ during the 2020 scam season
  11. Some injuries and playing time effects. If you look at the hard hit rate rather than total hard hit balls, all show up in the top 11: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/statcast?type=batter&year=2021&position=&team=&min=q&sort=13&sortDir=asc
  12. Bloody Mary Candyman Bettlejuice BoxCar8
  13. I guess the only way forward from that is to transition
  14. This is very funny. It's satire, right?

Nah man, Kucherov willingly faked an injury and sat out the entire regular season so they could circumvent the cap. It was their only hope to beat the Montreal Canadiens.
  16. This is correct but I wouldn't exactly agree with the bolded part. It's certainly reasonable to have zero stance re: the concussion and fracture narratives, but I tend to agree with BTS. I think it's a reasonable inference at this point, and not the application of bias, to say that she probably did not suffer a skull fracture and did not receive clear diagnosis of a concussion. If either injury was true her declaration would be stating that as fact and her lawyer would be unequivocal about it.

  18. You are disgusting. How are you a moderator, honestly. You make me sick.
  19. We don't know. Here is what we do know: - she had no skull fracture - she had swelling, bruising, scratches (all evident in the pictures) Everything else is just taken from her declaration or her court filing. She says she sought treatment for a concussion, and was diagnosed with an "acute head injury".

Habs played well for certain chunks of that game. Got lucky on some of those penalty kills where TB had like, 100% possession and zone time and kept just missing the net or ringing iron. Happy that it wasn't a sweep at the very least. Still in tough. The talent gap is pretty glaring.
  21. I mean, I've read some of her past stuff that was shockingly wrong on certain legal or technical points. She's also not a criminal lawyer. Their letter is probably based on her BTBS article. It already contains a correction in the editor's note at the bottom (no surprise that Sheryl Ring fell completely for the skull fracture lie). She also supposes motive the motives of Bauer's team, which seems irresponsible at the very least: So here is a plausible interpretation: 1. Sheryl Ring's article had (and may still have, for all we know) lies and falsehoods in it 2. Sheryl Ring's article may have the law completely wrong in certain ways (I don't know) 3. Sheryl Ring's article is stating as fact the motives of Bauer's team, which could be completely wrong
  22. SWR is having a great year. Love the K rate. Who gives a s*** what his ERA is and the walk rate isn't alarmingly high given the number of innings. Zero red flags
