  1. Never. I can't speak to the 80s or early 90s, but as long as I've been a fan the team has absolutely never been in a position this good, as far as projecting long term total talent.
  2. Griffin Conine, maybe. I'm sure if he was still in the org many would have him inside the top 20
  3. If he chokes again when he is promoted then I'll be ready to drop him down
  4. Some of those guys don't have prospect eligibility anymore. Hatch for sure. I'd probably go something like: Martin _____ Pearson Moreno Kirk _____ Groshans SWR Manoah _____ Orelvis Murray Smith _____ Van Eyk Hiraldo Beltre Adams _____ Lopez Kloff Pardinho De Castro Frasso Robberse Brown Palmer Logue? Taylor Young Melean Robertson Machado Jimenez Barger Britton Danner Paulino The rest Chose not to rank the arms with MLB experience aside from Pearson/Manoah, even if some of them still happen to hang onto prospect status. Order doesn't mean much towards the bottom there.
  5. This has to be one of the most impressive weeks in baseball history.
  6. I feel like his name recognition is going to lead to an undeserved promotion, and there will be a very minor opportunity cost to that. Not a big deal.
  7. I would rather call up almost anyone from AAA. The beard and veteran presents are just a trap for the team to give him way too much rope. And once he gets into a a routine of pitching, that fastball is probably more like 94, scraping 98 once a week. f***, 98 doesn't even matter anymore. Half of our scrub relievers are touching 97/98.
  8. John Axford is 38 years old. He last pitched in 2018, to a 5.27 ERA. The year before he had an ERA over 6.00. He's not helping the MLB team. I'm hoping this is 95% a favour to Axford and he will go to Buffalo. Maybe he really wanted one more shot so they said fine.
  9. There is basically only ONE thing to legitimately complain about on the position player side and it's that the defense is not great. Bo - has played a competent but below average SS Biggio - has played a competent but below average 3B Grichuk - is maybe playing a bit over his head in CF, expect regression Teoscar - is playing fine but probably regresses to a below average RF Gurriel - boneheaded fielder with a cannon Catcher - losing Jansen hurts on defense, all things considered Panik - providing mediocre bench D No nightmares but lots of room for improvements. Springer coming back should be a decent boost. They could upgrade CF and LF or RF on most nights, if Grichuk moves to a corner. I wonder if bringing up some young/athleticism at some point (thinking Smith, Moreno, Lopez) could be a good cascade. Less reliance on the aging Panik in the field, competition for Biggio at the corner.
  10. Kirk and Moreno were basically free prospects. I think they signed for $50k combined. f***ing mental.
  11. Huuuuge development. Imagine Springer CF, Kirk DH, Moreno 3B, Biggio and Gurriel platooning in LF
  12. Yeah I'm taking Adley, didn't mean to imply that Gabe is a better prospect. I just wanted to express that Gabe has a non zero chance of being the better player to show how steep his ascent has been

Hard to cheer for super teams like that
  14. Scouted defense for catchers is f***ing garbage anyway. It's just a massive arm strength bias. Danny Jansen was billed as a bat first prospect. Remember? That seems absurd now, he's the exact opposite.

That was a legendary game. Legit happy for the Bucks.
  16. Moreno is probably more athletic than Rutschman though. And two years younger. He might have a chance of being the more well rounded player, all things considered, even if Rutschman is a captain behind the plate and all that s***
  17. Francisco Mejia was a consensus top 20 guy and ranked as high as 11th and 5th overall, so Moreno should be extremely high
  18. It's possible but not a given. Punctuated experience is inferior to continuous experience for a bunch of different reasons.
  19. No. The lost development time might be a handicap he is never able to get over. And he might have been overrated at times, anyway. Maybe he's made of glass?
  20. Yeah. Don't get me wrong, Moreno is doing something special. He probably does have a slim chance to be a legit star.
  21. Moreno's reasonable future value is not "best catcher in baseball". Think something more like, I dunno, Wilson Contreras.
  22. Lindor waking up?
  23. This is literally true for a rehabbing MLB player. He doesn't have to hustle because the games don't matter. They can do whatever they want in terms of taking him out early, days off, etc because the games don't matter. It is absolutely, one hundred percent, less strenuous than trying to slide into an MLB environment
