  1. Anecdotes mean nothing anyway You'd have to look at the entire sample. Some type of analysis like "RHP with plus breaking balls" or "RHB with plus velocity" vs Toronto They are #3 against RHP this year so I assume they do well against every sample of RHP. From time to time a rookie or random RHP holds them at bay and that is frustrating and plays into certain narratives but... that happens to every team.
  2. I think they should have more balance ideally and I would not expect the numbers to be the same moving forward But I see tons of people blaming the 2022 issues on the lack of an impact LHB and that's just asinine really. Like, it's dumb. There is no connection. There is a logical disconnect.
  3. I would go with "underperformed" before "overrated" Vlad + Bo + Berrios are going to cumulatively produce like 9 or 10 WAR less than projections / expected performance
  4. Bo Bichette has a 78 wRC+ against lefties with a 25% K rate you cannot tell me that Bo is mentally okay this year he has demons in his head man 2020 + 2021 he had a 151 wRC+ against LHP with a 19% K rate
  5. vs. LHP .325 wOBA 113 wRC+ 10th best offense vs. RHP .329 wOBA 116 wRC+ 3rd best offense I don't know. It defies reason, but the offense underperforming in certain periods has NOTHING to do with behind right handed heavy because they are underperforming against f***ing lefties! So when people say the offense struggles because there is no LHB in the middle of it, you can just tell them that is definitely not true. Add a LHB in the middle and this backwards team performance just gets even worse lol. I would be interested in reading or hearing a coaches perspective on why the bats struggle against so many lefties that they should be destroying. Like, Reid f***ing Detmers has no business pitching in Toronto without giving up at least five runs.
  6. We will set the matchups late tonight or tomorrow morning so don't panic if you look early in the AM and things don't look right 1 vs 8 2 vs 7 3 vs 6 4 vs 5 Remember, 4 division winners make the playoffs + 4 wild card teams But matchups for those 8 teams are just based on total points so it's not like division winners get seeds 1 to 4. We could have a division winner as seed 8 this year even. First two rounds are one week one. The finals is two weeks long this year!!! I think finalists will have 5 adds for each calendar week of the finals! I think!
  7. the blue jays remain utterly unwatchable even when they win these days it's pure agony
  8. Shorter spring yeah but the offseason should have been normal for him, you'd think
  9. So leave it as it is? The nice thing about a 2 week final is it removes two start SP luck. Like, if you get lucky with how starts line up you'll have a 3 start SP during the finals vs 2 starts for an opponent's SP. The advantage is 50% rather than 100%. I guess we just need to think about changing the add/drop limit for the week. 5 might be too few for two whole weeks? Or just leave that as it is too and the finalists need to be conscious of any moves.
  10. More on Berrios' release point You can see that within several seasons his vertical RP has seemed to drop as the season went on. Maybe this is fatigue showing up. In 2022 he STARTED the season with a low release point - at a level that he only really lived at during the final months of a couple of seasons before. It's like he started the year tired, or maybe hurt. I wonder if he did something different in the offseason.
  11. This is his average vertical release point, all pitches clumped together, by month, for his whole career. Interesting to look at.
  12. There is a graph on his main page You toggle to AVG RELEASE VERTICAL Then switch the season to just 2022 and the interval to GAME His release point last outing was one of his highest of the year
  13. You all must apologize to Ross Atkins. He went off the board with Anthony Bass and got perhaps the best RP traded at the deadline and he's under control cheap for 2023. Just galaxy brain moves from Ross.
  14. I think it is set up so that R1 = (Mon Aug 29, 2022 - Sun Sep 4, 2022) R2 = (Mon Sep 5, 2022 - Sun Sep 11, 2022) R3 = (Mon Sep 12, 2022 - Sun Sep 25, 2022) So finals is a double week Is this what we always do?
  15. should just bring Romano in here
  16. have to f*** up Matt Barnes
  17. i will take it
  18. why isn't Biggio playing against a RHP? seems dumb
  19. sigh bo bichette
  20. It's like Josh Anderson or something like that the hit tool is just everything in baseball so funny that Alejandro Kirk is better at the sport than Oneil Cruz. So f***ing funny.
  21. the hockey analogy 80 slapshot 80 skating top speed 80 saucer passes 30 hockey IQ 40 hands I think this hockey player is still comfortably above replacement level in the sport they would be a 20 goal scoring winger who needs a great centreman Being fast is just so irrelevant in baseball most of the time
