  1. Toggle to full site I prefer it on mobile
  2. He does need tips from Kirk, unironic. Kirk can drive that low away pitch even when it's a slider off the plate a bit
  3. I do not remember him being bad against that location in past years. In my memory he would just shoot those pitches the other way for singles like Miggy...
  4. Vlad two years ago had a hole in his swing up and in. He was far and couldn't turn on it and he'd ground them like 80% of the time. Now he has a huge hole down and away and the league just pounds it continuously. He can't lay off that spot often enough and he doesn't make contact enough either. Hmmm
  5. I don't think it's the type of thing I'd keep him in AAA to learn to be honest. These MLB teammates can teach him a lot more about accessing his pop.
  6. I don't think those numbers have any meaning in this sample size. All you really care about in his MLB sample are scouting opinions or pitch level stats. His stuff+ and command+ are 99.7 and 106.5 That's not a great stuff+ number for a reliever. He does not have strikeout stuff. But the command figure is good... he might have more utility as a starter or long man than a reliever. We will see. I'd like to see the stuff+ number if he were to just throw one inning stints. But 105+ command+ is pretty good.... If he can maintain that he will be a good MLB pitcher. For reference here is Yimi this year 96.1 104.4 And there are lots of good MLB starters with stuff plus below 100 but good command plus numbers. Guys like Wade Miley
  7. thank you
  8. Kirk has 3.1 fWAR which is buoyed by 5.3 fielding runs and 0.8 positional adjustment runs. If he were a full time DH that fielding runs figure would disappear and the position adjustment would be like -6 or -7 depending on plate appearances. So you would be turning +6.1 on the defensive side of things to -6 That's the difference between a 3.1 fWAR player and a 1.9 fWAR player... You essentially take a guy with 8 WAR superstar upside and turn him into a 5 WAR upside guy. Like going from Posey to JD Martinez. It only makes sense to do that if the injury risks of playing the position are severe, or the playing time is much much less because of necessary rest. I mean it CAN make sense in some instances but that's a tough call.....
  9. Yeah but he's a 96th percentile pitch framer... so he's more valuable when he's playing the field. It's kind of like Buster Posey. Although not the same of course.
  10. Robertson + Ortega For whatever, some lesser prospects.
  11. f*** Happ. Just get Rafael Ortega. Clear Tapia upgrade and should be a fine bench piece, would not cost much.
  12. Part of you kind of wishes Kirk was not a good pitch framer so they could just make him the full time forever DH and run the Jansen-Moreno tandem. lol.
  13. It's true but Spanky was the donkey

Goalies are weird though. With the exception of the obviously elite guys like Vasilevsky, it's hard to dissect the quality of a goalie from the quality of general team defense So many times you see teams, over the years, bring in a "good" or big name goalie and they just play mediocre because it's more about team D than it is about goalie talent. Most of the time. Like I said, there are rare exceptions.
  15. I dunno. If they are more or less the same in value to date, isn't J. Rod just the more exciting player for fans to watch? He's more of an All Star in that sense. Superstar prospect, more homers and steals, doing exciting things.
  16. Ricky Tiedemann is a future Ace!
  17. what the f*** do you mean? "become accountable" you want to fire Ross Atkins because the pen is bad?
  18. Pretty confident from what I have seen that Moreno will figure out how to turn on enough pitches and spray the gaps enough to have average-ish game power. Maybe not in his first 600 PA but at some point.
  19. 1/10 with 5 ks against Pivetta and that assortment of relievers is just pathetic
  20. Wtf do you mean war does not count steals lmao Jim
  21. Pena got rekt he just came off the IL too
