  1. She's not the first GM to fall into the Avisail Garcia trap, lol.

Sir this is the same world where the Raptors got Kawhi for Demar DeRozan...
  3. De Castro, Jimenez, and Machado were all defense first "may never hit" types so not shocking they aren't producing a lot. For Jimenez and Machado their offensive lines are not that disappointing and some parts of their stat lines like contact rates could even be interpreted as promising. Same for Otto Lopez. Like, Espinal had several years down there where his overall numbers were close to average but you could tell a bit of good from the batting average and contact rates. Hiraldo cratering like this is a bummer. I don't have anything good to say. Groshans hitting for absolutely no power is shocking and a huge bummer too but at least the contact and walk rates look good. There is hope here. Martinez is fine but definitely dropping and looks more like an MLB role player (such as Aristides Aquino) than anything else. Still hope he can adjust and make more contact though... Beltre - it's not even 100 PA so whatever. I don't know anything about Espino and Cook. Anyone else?
  4. Yeah he might be getting quite unlucky. But it's just hard to say that for Chapman after the two prior years and it strikes me as more likely that his K rate will just go back to those 30% rates.
  5. The margins of error are so thin on these high K% + high FB% players. Chapman is kind of a more normal version of Gallo, the extreme illustration of the problem. The tinkering MLB has done with the balls and the humidors might be f***ing with the results
  6. for sure seems like the type of mistake a teenager would make or a dad seven drinks deep, or with the maturity of a teenager

Yeah it would be a bet on the continued development of the young players, just like the Kawhi trade was kind of a bet on Siakam etc. developing. They only do a Durant trade like this if they think the young core players remaining have another level. Mostly that would mean OG and Barnes I think. Could he have another level? Barnes - yes OG - probably and he is a young/core player FVV - probably not but he's good and in his prime Siakam - probably not but he's good and in his prime Trent Jr. - personally I doubt it Boucher - maybe? but he's not that significant. Achiuwa - probably, but he's not that significant.
  8. Man that is horrible. Makes you wonder who was driving the boat. You would have to be so irresponsible to make this mistake - a series of operational errors like going to fast near people, not being aware of your own wake, and not cutting the motor when anywhere near a floating human
  9. Drowned Either tubing down a river or behind a boat
  10. Borucki doing well with Seattle lmao

I dunno, I feel like in context the 2018-2019 team would have looked just as questionable after Kawhi than the 2022-2023 team would look after a trade where Siakam+ leaves and Durant comes in. 2018-2019: Lowry 32 years old, age becoming a concern Siakam and FVV pre-breakout 24 year olds, huge questions Ibaka - performance concerns Gasol - very old Comparatively this current Raptors team looks younger, with some depth and multiple prime or pre-prime players, and better positioned to move a core piece or two for one superstar....
  12. Yeah I'd take Syndergaard for the right price but his stuff sucks now so I would definitely not pay a lot. And I would think of him as regular season innings + a reliever for the playoffs... not as a playoff SP unless absolutely necessary. The below numbers are stuff+ and command+ for four pitchers this year. I won't tell you the order but they are Greinke, Ryu, Syndergaard, and Chi Chi Gonzalez. lol. 89.9 --- 105.9 89.4 --- 106.9 89.8 --- 104.6 90 ----- 104.2
  13. I don't think it's a question of can they pay Teoscar. Just matter of whether or not they should...
  14. Looks like injury or injury prevention
  15. Theoretically, sure, but we would be talking about a 1 to 5% chance to be that good and the 5% might be generous. Much more realistic - SP3 if he reaches his potential.

I just disagree on Barnes. Love him. I'd sell high on Siakam though
  17. They must have had a specific CBA based reason or power for intervening in that instance.
  18. Yeah a team could TRY but the PA would very strongly tell the player not to do it. A rogue player could still take it though
  19. Is it a penalty for getting hurt or a bonus for staying healthy? It depends on the details. The actual cutoffs and dollar figures Not sure the mlbpa would be too perturbed if the guaranteed amount is high enough.
  20. On what basis? We have seen playing time bonuses before
  21. I wonder if they could do large bonuses based on IP or PA Then if he has to give up pitching because of injury at least a chunk of the contract wouldn't be paid

Ah yeah that doesn't seem like a good trade then

Reasonably what would they have to give up though?
