  1. Kelenic is three years younger than Pearson and was basically the #1 MLB prospect so he's still for sure more valuable. I dunno what fair value for Pearson is anymore. If it's a failed prospect, change of scenery thing then the return will be pretty ugly. Cristian Pache, Carter Kieboom, Taylor Trammell... lmao. If you are super lucky maybe Brandon Marsh or Jose Lowe or JJ Bleday or Kiriloff/Larnach or someone like that.
  2. If anyone was waiting for debut waivers on a late MLB arrival, everyone on waivers right now who has played an MLB game is fair game.
  3. It will matter to the nerd voters. There are more of them than ever. They will care more about that than they will about the gap in HR or RBI
  4. WAR is not relevant when it's 7.0 vs 7.1 Freeman xwOBA .404 vs Goldschmidt xwOBA .367 is pretty big gap Oldschool voters WILL care about batting average and the standings
  5. oh f*** Jeff McNeil he's a little twerp
  6. NL MVP is a f***ing four way nail biter Freeman, Goldy, Machado, and Arenado all have a case. I think Freeman wins it. 159 games played, best team in baseball, MLB batting title. For the nerds, highest xwOBA of the four. Goldy and Arenado might split some first place votes. Machado doesn't have a lead in any offensive stat and the Padres finished 22 games back of the Dodgers. I agree with jb, Sandy Alcantara's ERA and IP win the NL Cy for him and it won't be that close.
  7. I thought it was a literal hole in his swing like 2022 Cody Bellinger
  8. I went to the future and this is the heatmap against from the Jays playoffs
  9. Regular season totals (TOR / SEA) HITS --> 1464 / 1237 XBH --> 519 / 445 BB --> 500 / 596 (SEA also has edge in HBP) SB:CS --> 67:35 / 83:27 BsR --> -11.4 / -11.4 Runs --> 775 / 690 UZR --> -32.5 / 2.2 Errors --> 82 / 69 Honestly pitching looks like a wash to me. In all likelihood the games wont be super close and the core players from one team will win it by hitting huge dingers or throwing gems. BUT if the games are close and Toronto wins it's probably from their pure hitting ability. They are way better at getting hits and extra base hits. BUT if the games are close and Seattle wins it's probably from some combination of patience, timely hits, and maybe sounder defense and an important stolen base or two?
  10. What do you guys think "magnified" even means in this context, as it relates to small ball s***? In my opinion it just means WHEN those things lead to wins or losses they are impactful and you remember them. I don't think it means that those things are more important on balance that the big/core/fundamental s*** like hitting dingers and striking other people out. I don't think it means that scrappy s*** becomes suddenly more valuable in the playoffs, in terms of win production. Stealing a key base CAN be massive but in most series or playoff games there is literally no game situation where it matters. It CAN also be massive in specific regular season games of course. Like, Bradley Zimmer could win the Jays a series with a stolen base or a good defensive play late and close. They are probably putting him on the roster just in case such an opportunity arises. But if he broke his leg this morning it would not f***ing matter - the Jays playoff WS would maybe go down 0.001%, if that. As usual, Olerud is completely right and nobody should fade him.
  11. Bad post. Projections are a measurement of talent. The more talented team has a better chance of winning any given game. Simple.
  12. You care about projected performance. Winker is a really good hitter.
  13. That’s a big deal. He’s one of their top 4 hitters and they lose a LF option. Seattles lineup is probably simple to bullpen plan against. The top is all righties and the bottom is mostly lefties.
  14. Moreno in LF is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge wish I could watch this game
  15. Remember when Toronto traded for Stripling he was bad right away and then replacement level in 2021 and now great this year Mitchy White just needs some time.
  16. Can someone please chirp Bryan Baker at the end of game 2? Get his attention and FYSMC him.
  17. I feel bad for Mitchy now. He couldn't hold it.
  18. Truly, Zimmer might be the worst hitter to ever wear a Jays uniform. This is some Ryan Goins, DeWayne Wise, Luke Maile s***. When those guys were at their worst of course.
  19. Yeah and that is literally the deterrent for gambling stuff. Lifetime ban from the institution.
  20. Goddamn, that Moreno home run is beautiful. He clearly does have 20 HR pop. You can't hit one oppo like that if you don't.
  21. But Sammy tested positive in 2003. He didn't set any records that year. The timing is important if you are talking about wiping records. There probably WERE guys who were clean until their 30s but then started taking drugs when their talents were withering away.
  22. wow Moreno! forfeit the game, they said....
  23. Yeah I think too many days off is legit bad for some of these guys at this point in the year. Romano should be able to pitch every game if needed.
