  1. Belt just had major surgery Will be 35 soon Toronto does not need a 1B/DH I wonder how many career homers Belt would have if he played in a home park that was just neutral for LH power. It has always felt like playing for San Francisco was kind of the only thing keeping him from being thought of as a star. His production (WAR) from 23 to 29 lines up closely with guys like Ryan Howard, Jason Giambi, Justin Morneau, Derrek Lee, Kevin Youkilis. He has been an all star ONCE. But always has been such a sock solid hitter.
  2. Nah he has ALWAYS been a bad outfielder despite being fast. Just not that smart out there. The brain farts are a career long thing. https://www.mlb.com/video/kevin-gausman-in-play-run-s-to-jorge-polanco?q=teoscar%20hernandez%20error&cp=MIXED&qt=FREETEXT&p=0 Look at how he goes after this ball AFTER clanking it. Barely jogging. I dunno what it is but he has like the opposite of a killer instinct on defense.
  3. Yeah all I care about is effort and focus between the lines. Biggest issues in 2022: - Teo’s effort and focus in the outfield - Gurriel’s effort and focus in the outfield - Vlad’s baserunning. Some other players baserunning. - Bo’s focus on defense
  4. And from a team that really can’t afford to have an albatross deal on the books
  5. It's Tim Anderson and then 7 DHs
  6. But doesn't this make sense? If I walk up to my best friend on the street and call him a f***ing douche, he'd laugh and say what's up. If I walk up to someone I don't know at all and say the same thing I'll get punched. The social context is kind of everything when it comes to banter. Not everything that looks like a personal attack to outsiders is considered an actual personal attack by the receiving party.
  7. I think it's possible because he's in that Varsho, Realmuto camp where they are just way more athletic than a typical catcher. But I wouldn't expect him to be a good CF, that's nuts. Decent corner outfielder, or passable 2B or 3B? Perhaps.
  8. Yeah kind of seems like he was miscast as a catcher? The part where he has elite CF instincts would just be random luck for Arizona.
  9. It's just so weird that a CATCHER became such a good defensive CF instantly. I know it's 1.5 seasons of data at this point but I am still a bit skeptical
  10. Reddit just is not a good forum for long-form, smart discussions. It's fine for what it is
  11. I don't like what Buck says But when he is doing colour commentary at least he adds some personality to the broadcast He's intolerably bad at play by play though
  12. I think we do a pretty good job at curating a certain type of community.
  13. If tercet showed up tomorrow and started slinging mud at the mods, he'd be gone in an instant.
  14. Pat Tabler brought absolutely nothing to the broadcasts, unfortunately for him. Just boring.
  15. That's not really the point. The point is that when someone who doesn't even engage here shows up and immediately disparages the moderation - the conduct is antisocial.
  16. I didn't even care that he pointed out the post, really. I was even the one to delete it because it should have been deleted. It was the follow up post about a mod finally doing their job. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but the tone of that was just blatantly disrespectful. I doubt you'd ever do that. Like, you'd have to change a lot for me to start reading your posts as antisocial, haha.
  17. Rule #8 has been there since the rules were handed down, by God. I think there are good reasons it is in there. We enforce the rules within the social context of the message board. Typically we don't care if a community member is critical of the mods because they are either joking, in part, or it's legitimate criticism. But TL is arguably not even a community member at this point. He doesn't even engage here; he basically just, infrequently, double posts s*** he creates for other communities. I don't know about you guys but if some guy I haven't seen in years shows up and starts to take a dump in my backyard, I'm grabbing the garden hose.
  18. Captain Adama, Captain_Obvious, Gen.Disarray, JaysAllMighty, Laika, max silver, rabbit4949, Terminator this thread was basically an IQ test and only this group of egg heads passed
  19. No I just think it's safe of them to say it's his job to lose 50 wRC+ against lefties 6 weeks into the season? Congrats, you're in a platoon now!
  20. Red Sox just DFA'd Jeter Downs. WTF happened to him? Had really good numbers before the trade and looked like a polished hitter but has been horrendous in the Boston system. lmao
  21. You don't get to just show up out of nowhere, shine a light on an inappropriate post everyone was ignoring, and say the mods suck. Only frequent posters get to say the mods suck. Bye
  22. Yeah I clicked through a few. Greinke had several rock solid years and earned his money. And then they handed off most of the bag to the Astros and got Josh Rojas in the process.
  23. Excuse me? None of us get paid to do this, you dork.
  24. I dunno what else to say. If you think Bo has the same attitude as all the other players I don't think you watch the games. He carries himself differently and thinks he's a Head & Shoulders model. Again, it's not a bad thing.
  25. 2016 was a bit of a bump year look at some of these. I don't think many of these worked out for the teams. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016-mlb-free-agent-tracker/sort_column-aav__sort_direction-0
