  1. Abreu has ascended. Can't see Astros doing this. In reality Toronto will probably trade Jansen for Urquidy + roster filler and the Ross Atkins apologists will squint and fart really hard and find a way to justify it.
  2. I think if Bellinger stays with the Dodgers he'll be a strict platoon player hitting 9th and he will suck again. He might even end up worse than a platoon player if he stays with LA in 2023. I could see him starting out in a strict platoon and then even losing that job at times... If he gets a change of scenery he might be a full time player who hits 6th in lineup. And who knows maybe a different voice in his ear would help SOMETHING.
  3. You guys are overcorrecting on Syndergaard by the way. He's boring but young enough that one more year removed from his surgeries could mean an uptick in velocity. And a 3.80 FIP in 2022 is a good enough starting point.
  4. Bellinger was still worth money in 12 and 15 team leagues, in basic 5x5 and points setups. Nuked AVG but he did go 19/14
  5. If he has good bats but mostly young pitching like that then I would say definitely lean for boring veterans like Syndergaard as keepers, over lottery tickets. He can hunt for pop up impact pitching on the waiver wire during the season.
  6. Gurriel's power did not go away because of physical decline. He changed his approach. That matters for trade value. He's probably not worth much sure but somewhere there is a hitting coach who thinks they can make him a .300/.350 hitter with power. I would not just dump Gurriel. That makes no sense. He's a useful player... just maybe not a guy who needs 100% playing time in LF.
  7. Yeah I would be boring here and just go Syndergaard, Singer, Detmers. Sixto had another shoulder procedure last month. Guys like Anderson/Bello/Pearson are replacement level now in a shallow league like that. Your brother probably has lots of work to do
  8. Now now. Let's not be so quick to throw away our institutions.
  9. 1. I think most people know this and it was even stated recently by others 2. Yeah the posters who think Toronto can trade Gurriel for much of anything are kind of out to lunch. They could trade him for a SP but it would be a #5 type with 1 year of control, probably. 3. Yes. 4. Yes. Also, they were 27th maybe by some of the fancy stats but they were also #1 in outfield shifting. This creates a weird dynamic because good positioning can actually hurt a player's metrics, sometimes, given how catch rates are figured out with some of the stats. Just mentioning this. But yeah the outfield defense is not great obviously - Tapia sucked, Springer is just a competent CF at best, Gurriel is a statue, Teoscar sucks.
  10. Yeah for sure. I bet he will be AWESOME in 2024 and the Padres will miss the playoffs, lol.
  11. Man who would have considered that desperately trading for an enigmatic 1B with a career 116 wRC+ may not work out great.
  12. Soto .349 wOBA for SDP in the season (bad by his standards) .226/.294/.258 in the playoffs. SOTO + BELL for ABRAMS, GORE, HASSELL, VOIT, JAMES WOOD, and JARLIN SUSANA Maybe this has a chance to go down as one of the worst trades in MLB history? Imagine if WSH gets two stars out of it and Soto is a flop.
  13. At least they were smart enough to recognize that Civale had nothing? The plan can't have been for him to barely pitch...
  14. why the f*** would Cleveland start Civale?
  15. I guess he might prefer the more cautious approach which is to not try for significant contribution in 2023 and then do a pillow contract somewhere in 2024 after a normal offseason
  16. He made a bad first impression but he did have a good FIP with Toronto, and a good FIP on the season in 99 innings. Should be a good #6 SP. And the #6 on Toronto will basically be the #5 because Kikuchi is useless. Manoah/Gausman Berrios <------- Ideally they add someone who is a capable SP3 to slot above Berrios. Could even be Stripling coming back... Kikuchi/White Ryu (second half) Zulueta, Tiedemann (maybe) <------- they also need better MiLB depth this year. Hatch and Kay, Lawrence and Pearson, those guys aren't going to cut it. I think other than Zulu and Tiedemann the arms who are close enough to maybe help in 2023 are all bullpen prospects.
  17. lmao Taylor Walls, Marcell Ozuna also come to mind. Jesse Winker, Joey Gallo. Most good teams have one position player just tanking it

100% but outshooting teams like the Coyotes and Habs and still losing is still f***ing hilarious there is also some part of it that is bad goaltending and not bad luck but way too early to say that

    lmao f***ing loser team
  20. It is "fine". They are losing one player who does not matter from a decent but unspectacular bullpen. It could be improved. Surely they will try to make it better.
  21. I wouldn’t equate “better than Boston” with being necessarily bullish on the bullpen
  22. Galaxy Brain move = trade ALL of the catchers and then sign some boring but competent catching schmuck from the free agency pile. Building around catching is dumb, I hate catchers.
  23. Now I think. He kind of jumped the shark. He needs to win this year or next... or maybe he has a 3 year window I don't know but he needs to win.
  24. I think Moreno's value is > or = Kirk even if on paper Kirk should be worth more because the game is not played on paper. it is played by human bodies. and kirk's is revolting.
  25. reads like something an Alejandro Kirk hater would say
