  1. wtf is this true 2.26 xFIP lmfao Even if you look at K-BB% he is 11th in that sample Toronto should just make him a reliever next year. Forget starting.
  2. Only in baseball would they permit irregularly shaped fields but then try to standardize the humidity of the object of the sport
  3. Dylan Moore probably plays more than Haggerty I would guess that Taylor Trammell would replace him on the roster?
  4. He should. Any lineup configuration that does not have Kirk and Jansen in there is a huge mistake.
  5. Maybe you're right. Espinal has not been out as long as I thought... Funny enough, Whit has barely played LF in his career. He's been in CF and RF more.
  6. Yeah he's on the roster if ready but not under consideration to start against Ray, is what I mean.
  7. At this point it seems like the are going with Tapia. He has started every game in LF for a week now. You'd think if Whit or Biggio were going to be involved in that way they would have been doing that... instead Biggio just has the two 1B starts and Whit has been full time 2B. Against Robbie Ray Option 1 Tapia LF Whit 2B Option 2 Whit LF Espinal 2B I don't think Option 2 offers anything more offensively and it might be a downgrade since Espinal is so slow and just a boring contact bat who has been bad for months. Actually I think it's a downgrade offensively. Is it a slight upgrade on defense? Maybe but with Espinal coming back from injury he won't be sharp.
  8. A short series CAN be about tactics but most of the time they aren't and they are decided by who outslugs the other team or shuts the other team down. So while a player like Haggerty CAN make a big difference it's not like he is likely to matter much at all. In most simulations he plays sparingly and has no impact. Everyone is both correct and wrong.
  9. The Espinal and Gurriel injury timelines are pretty awful I'm not sure I would be starting Gurriel in the WC round at all, even against a LHP (Ray). And Espinal might not even play for me. He's certainly not starting in the WC round and it's not obvious who he would even pinch hit for. He's probably just injury infield coverage. Or a last resort pinch runner in a weird game if the other bench pieces have all been used.
  10. Nah there are certain players who are 100% healthy and it's probably best for them to get their regular action.
  11. I think they absolutely do this. In the last two days we will see this lineup: Zimmer RF Bradley Jr . CF Tapia LF Moreno C Biggio 1B Lopez SS Merrifield 2B a pylon at 3B a volunteer at DH Nobody available to pitch other than White, Kikuchi, and a couple relievers who need work
  12. Have there been any good clips of how close he was? From the live video it looked like inches or a foot at the most.
  13. omg that's a nightmare
  14. Haggerty has 1.3 WAR in only 82 games / 197 PA this year From the game to PA ratio it seems like he's a common defensive replacement and pinch runner I think Dylan Moore and Frazier kind of platoon on the infield So the main effect of no Haggerty would be one less pinch runner for them but more importantly you might see both Winker and Haniger in the OF in the late innings with the M's winning. Pretty bad defense in late/close situations.
  15. At least post his wRC+ for f***s sake 106 110 166 130
  16. Kind of a chill end to the season. The final series has significance but doesn’t reallllllly matter enough to mess with the rotation or tire out the big dudes. So you set up the rotation for R1 and give the core bats 1.5 days off each. Whatever happens happens but hard to see the Ms catching us and even if they do as term said they might have to ride their horses into the dirt to do it
  17. You watched?
  18. Nice to have two horseshit teams like Boston and Baltimore to finish the season
  19. "inexplicably bad" is what I keep wanting to say about Berrios
  20. I dunno. It's probably a complete standard deviation difference. Toronto is 9 points of wRC+ better this year. Seattle is 9 points of wRC+ better than the CUBS, who are 20th in offense. So the gap between Toronto and the Ms is as big as the gap between the Ms and some certifiably below average teams. Seattle is a tier 3 offense. They are in there with teams like the Twins, Phillies, Brewers, Red Sox, Rays.
  21. Yeah that's dumb. His peripherals are not sub replacement level. His FIP and xFIP show a pitcher who still belongs in an MLB rotation. He's getting paid like a 2 and pitching like a durable #5. It sucks, but this guy is blowing hot air.
