  1. Yeah I doubt it. Wells - Rios - Johnson was a really good defensive alignment at times. That's probably as close as you can get. Johnson was like a poor man's Pillar, prime Wells was smooth as f***, and Rios had range and a cannon. Maybe one of the years with Barfield and Moseby was excellent in all three positions? Probably just two spots though.
  2. I really like the resetting the lineup idea! Never heard that before.
  3. I don't know if the Jays had a lot of chances to run. They did make a number of aggressive baserunning plays though: KK 1st to 3rd Springer 1st to 3rd Vlad taking 2nd and almost getting thrown out Bo running through the stop sign to score a run
  4. Chapman's seemed like a hit and run
  5. I have always thought they should at least play a few innings of additional normal baseball.
  6. My favourite play was Kiermaier going first to third
  7. I bet their percentiles include ALL players of all samples. That will push regulars up as the other plays in the sample will be worse but, for Varsho it doesn't really matter. whether you put a 57 or a 60 on the raw power is basically the same.
  8. yeah it's definitely close to plus raw power. it the upper end of the first standard deviation. 252 qualified hitters in statcast last year... 112.5 max EV would be 75th of 252 that's like 70th percentile also at 112.5 max EV in 2022: Renfroe, Trea Turner, Sal Perez I have this in my head as a rule of thumb: <104 = 20 raw power 104 = 30 begins 108 = 40 begins 110 = "pure" 50 113 = 60 begins 115 = 70 begins 118 = 80 begins almost 70% of mlb players should be between like 108 and 113, that's roughly the two lines one SD around mean raw power some of these might be off by 1 mph
  9. I hate the Cardinals so f***ing much
  10. cool playstation violin though
  11. he's horrible it's remarkable, sometimes, how drastically scouts can miss on a player the nationals are so depressing. it's reaching a point where fans must be wondering if the world series was even worth it.
  12. look at these f***ing dorks being driven in on trucks hahahahahahhaa i hope one of them twists a knee jumping down off one
  13. The O's lineup is rock solid this year.
  14. goddamn Manoah is a f***ing unit
  15. If you just care about boxscores, there are some tighter options. But nothing I am aware of has the strikezone display and live pitch tracking that gameday does
  16. It's just amazing how MLB keeps making Gameday worse. Every year, it is a bit worse. They could make the desktop experience so cool and information rich if they wanted. But no. It's basically what you'd expect from a little Boxscore viewer inside the Yahoo Fantasy app or some s*** like that.
  17. Manfred could have said it better. Basically, the called strike zone is a bit different than the defined strike zone because of a process of natural evolution between hitters and pitchers and umps. The game ITSELF has more or less decided that certain corner pitches are not strikes, because everyone involved agrees it would be dumb if they are strikes. Trying to think of an example from another sport. The old "neighbourhood" play at second base in baseball used to be like this; umps would give the infielder the out even if they stepped over the bag. But they legislated that away. In hockey, players often technically ice the puck but as long as they were close to the red line the referees don't call it.
  18. they won't need a long man! also, Kikuchi is pretty short tbh
  19. I think the human brain would just be / is naturally better at calling a circle or oval it's sort of easy to imagine the centre of the zone and judge balls or strikes based on how far the pitch is from the middle it's not as easy to imagine a rectangle floating in space and judge whether or not a ball touched the corner of it the problem is that the circle or oval would be harder to define in writing. it's easy to define the floating rectangle in writing. hmmmm
  20. Yeah just put the off day at the END of the entire first series. Game 1 - Game 2 - Game 3 - OFF DAY - rest of season
  21. I don't know why MLB always does this to open the season play a game then have a day off WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
  22. Want to move Blackmon and Waino for draft picks. Could move any other OF for a good 2B.
  23. He's a 24.5 year old finished product with 1856 minor league plate appearances. This isn't some guy who is going to develop much more (or at all) in the minors. Simply put, the Blue Jays are probably a better 26 man roster if Lopez is on there over Lukes. The assumption that the 26th man will never really play only holds true if the 26th man sucks. If you have a good 26th man, he can swim move his way into decent playing time as the season rolls along.
  24. probably gonna win that one but mostly because Montas died i guess cole irvin, getting him for cash is a small win haha
