  1. I don't think it was a bad year for the farm system. The pitching depth in AAA + Nate Pearson completely s*** the bed but those guys weren't really prospect listers anyway. Lots of talent in the system took solid steps forward in 2022.
  2. Personally I think Barger is a top 100 prospect. Barriera has a case but it might be early. Orelvis has a case but I don't think he deserves it anymore. He's closer to 150. Warts are big. Zulu has a case but probably too much relief risk to make it. I don't think anyone else has an argument to be in there.
  3. counter offer him jonathan villar + a 3rd round pick in 2024 + the Royals' 8th best prospect
  4. BA is a scouting first publication and they anchor to draft-time opinions. They don't tend to shoot statistical performers up their rankings quickly. I wouldn't be surprised to see Barger on some other lists.
  5. His ADP is in the 80s in redraft leagues. He has immense dynasty value. Shortstop Aaron Judge is the upshot so... yeah.
  6. Yeah the Jays have a cluster of guys who might as well be backend top 100 prospects. So, don't worry.
  7. I don't think he's really the type of player you care about rotting on the bench. It's not like you would expect Lopez to develop into more than a useful bench player anyway. Now guys like Horwitz or Barger... maybe you'd prefer them in AAA playing everyday vs. being the last man on the bench.
  8. we will probably see one interesting name on a spring training invite someone like Stephen Piscotty, Matt Duffy. I dunno. KP.
  9. There is a chance that: 1. The Espinal/Biggio platoon at 2B is extremely good 2. Merrifield is a stud 4th OF That is kind of how I like to think about the roster - with Merrifield as the RHB 4th OF, ostensibly on the bench. Of course he can and will play a lot and play 2B too. If you think about it like that then a RHB OF for the bench seems like a luxury and not a need, whatsoever.
  10. It's funny though because his tools are not really "loud" visually Like, he looks more like Kole Calhoun on the field than your prototypical 5 tool player
  11. starting to seem like the Jays are content as is
  12. Yeah from the previous rough images both bullpens will stick out a bit. But the walls at the corners and in parts of CF might be a bit deeper. And walls will be higher. So all things considered it might play the same for offense, just with some quirks.
  13. They say they are bigger. Really they just need to add like one inch
  14. interesting not sure the best offensive C in baseball needed to change his swing but he looks good on film
  15. 100% who geefs a fock
  16. I am going to veto Chris Carpenter because he did give Toronto three solid seasons and a decent amount of innings. They also really had no choice but to not offer him a guaranteed deal towards the end. And I think his team control would have been up anyway! Yeah he blossomed later on but even if he was healthy that probably happens right? He peaked in his 30s so he would have been gone anyway.
  17. So other than the pitching side I don't think you're going to get a deep list of hyped up prospects who got screwed by injuries. On the hitting side you'll have to just think of plain old disappointments. Travis Snider and Sil Campusano are probably on the corners. I guess Josh Phelps is the 1B? He could also be DH or C but there are many other C options. Russ Adams the SS?
  18. this seems depressing
  19. there is something very fun about watching a changeup artist. Marcum, Estrada.... Stripling at points last year gave me flashbacks to those guys.
  20. Yeah sort of similar. Morrow held up like twice as long though. He did alright for the Jays - they got a lot of value from him.
  21. Dustin McGowan - 1.5 successful years as SP then rekt by injuries, eventually just left as a FA Aaron Sanchez - brief success as a reliever, then one good year as a SP, before being rekt by injuries and s*** command. Dumped for "nothing" in a trade Nate Pearson - can't stay healthy doing anything. Will Toronto repeat the mistakes they made with Sanchez and McGowan? Or trade him while he still has many years of control and some other time might still sort of want him?
  22. You make the mistake here if thinking anyone gives a f*** what you even think about this. It's sad that you still don't get it. The line "It’s like NBA players, you’d think they’d get their money and thug out..." is patently racist. It's as simple as word choice. "thug out" is just abhorrently racist in that context. Grossly racist. You'll probably never get it though because you are extremely stupid. And modern media makes guys like you think they are unique and important and overflowing with sage practical wisdom and common sense.
  23. The Blue Jays have become international signing geniuses so we can assume this guy is a monster
  24. I love it though because they probably outbid the penny pinching Red Sox for many of these mediocre talents
  25. But fWAR is not relevant for arb and they do use hardware. Vlad had MVP runner up, AS, SS going into first arb. The near MVP win probably carried tons of weight. Bichette just can't compare.
