  1. Hicks gets somewhat unfairly described as inconsistent He has had fluctuating walk rates and injuries but his xERA range in his career is 2.41 to 3.91, and his FIP range in his career is 3.01 to 4.17 Lot of people just looking at ERA in 2022 and the 10 innings in 2021
  2. You might as well get used to Toronto's front office operating like this. It's actually an exciting organization to cheer for because of the inclination to trade. They are not gun-shy at all. Big signings, big trades. They trade prospects all the time and use them as currency. But they aren't stupid and they will also go the other way and make little deals to bring in controllable talent or prospects, like the Teo trade for Swanson and Macko and the Tellez trade. And most of the time when a prospect is dealt there is a reason. Lots of balls in the air, lots of things in motion all the time, but the emphasis is always on the MLB club. What's not to love about that? You don't HAVE to clutch all your prospects forever when you can run a top 10 payroll. Let the other teams enjoy 3-4 optionable, league minimum years from an SP6 prospect like Kloffenstein... So you don't really need to get bent out of shape about losing some depth SP prospects. I mean they brought in Adam Macko last offseason. It goes both ways.
  3. still lots of targets they probably are gunning for Candle Bro and Ed Rod. I am not sure if any decent C are even available???
  4. I was going to post something like "it doesn't look that bad. maybe he just has a thicker body type. it looks like he has a big ass. that could be good!" but then I looked up pre-draft pictures https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/ZfF3dW23gG8PqwP4yqs0-K0P4cc=/0x0:5233x3488/1200x800/filters:focal(2438x642:3274x1478)/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/71122004/1233896737.0.jpg yeah he has gained a lot of weight and it isn't sitting well. his chest/belly look to be carrying quite a bit.
  5. They legit look like one of Spanky's dynasty teams
  6. Hudson Liberatore Kloffenstein Robberse lol
  7. I like it. Robberse could end up as a solid SP4 and be worth a lot but it is what it is. Not worried about Kloffenstein
  8. You idiots will suggest cutting Garcia one week then complain about him being "burned" the next
  9. Yeah neither long term Short term, team need
  10. Seattle won't sell I think there are only 8 to 10 sellers this year. 8 non contenders then the Mets and Padres. Looks like the Mets are selling. Doubt the Padres give up
  11. He means to agree with you.
  12. Talent /= production to date Lance Lynn has a 4.02 xFIP and projects to be pretty good. Lots of bad luck in his FIP/ERA so far. Similar things can be said for Kelly. He was one of the better RP available. MLB trade deadline is a real seller's market now. The expanded WC has made a lot of mediocre teams into buyers.
  13. Yeah it was mostly injuries. I think he had a couple concussions and started to get them when like, sunflower seeds hit his head too hard.
  14. Very much a "Cleveland" draft pick College guy with hit tool and plate discipline. Try to teach him how to hit for some power... The 2022 draft has a chance to be a difference maker for the organization. Roden looks good, Doughty and Kasevich are holding their own, Toman is still a teenager and has a chance, Fluharty looks like a hit, T.J. Brock has sick ratios, Peyton Williams was hitting in A ball... then of course there is Barriera. And some other names nobody talks about like Nolan Perry and Pat Gallagher and Ryan Jennings... ... just an awful lot of talent that is NOT busting right away. Lots of decent K/BB rates or decent wRC+ there.
  15. Yes you are missing some things, lol.
  16. Most prospects bust
  17. 37 year old 99 wRC+ 1B/DH
  18. Gurriel Jr. is circling the toilet. Down to a 99 wRC+ and 1 WAR. That means he has been atrocious for weeks because last I checked he was close to 2 WAR or something.
  19. The playoff picture is pretty wild. No team is completely safe yet, not even the division leaders, except for the Braves. They could all miss the playoffs still.
  20. A - Keep Jansen for 2024, then let him walk and spend the resource elsewhere. Sign an old veteran to help Kirk. B - Extend Jansen. Jansen + Kirk tandem for the next 3+ years. C - Extend Jansen. Trade Kirk. Sign an old veteran to help Jansen. Eh?
  21. I don't think Varsho ever catches again. But as a fulltime CF he's fine. Even without improvement it's kind of like controlling prime Kiermaier. That type of hitter/fielder. D is probably a notch below, but offensive POTENTIAL might be higher. I dunno. Ugh Varsho is tough to watch. Hit, I mean.
  22. There is no evidence whatsoever that Kirk's issues offensively have anything to do with workload. I don't know if he can catch 120 games. Only one way to find out. But, paying Danny Jansen free agent money to catch ~80 games a year may not be smart. Team could just pair Kirk with a savvy veteran who can catch and throw.
  23. Seems good enough to me. Even with his noodle bat this season he is a competent catcher. Defensive remains solid. Bat projects well. Obviously, depth is always good and I wish Kirk was hitting better...
