    DBacks have a gigantic pitching disadvantage after Gallen and Kelly. Pfaadt is a who f***ing knows and their bullpen is sad. I guess they don't need a 4th SP this series though so Kelly would get a game 4.

    That's basically the 2023 problem in a nutshell. I know other things went wrong and several players didn't hit well but if Vlad was a star it's a completely different team.

    The pessimists within like 26 different fanbases get to say "I told you so" at this time of year It's generally not helpful to pretend that these people have special baseball knowledge or worthwhile opinions about roster construction. I mean sometimes they have a point but by the end of the year almost every team is a loser so you aren't special or smart just because you pointed out the Jays flaws all year long.

    The Orioles demoted Bryan Baker halfway through the year. Kept him in the minors for months where he was mediocre. Inexplicably put him on the playoff roster. Use him. He gives up three earned runs and they lose the game by three runs. Lmao

    He was never fat though I think he just gained weight while recovering from surgery and had to change his diet to cut back down

    Yeah He probably thought his size was an asset before 2023. Like the traditional fat pitcher. Of course we've also seen players work hard and get in shape then lose it over future seasons. Like Vlad!

    I get it But the trade definitely looks worse in hindsight because at the time Kirk looked a lot better. Kirk's combination of hitting skills (elite elite contact with decent power) with plus framing and blocking just looked so so good. He looks worse now because the power cratered. Like, if Kirk still looked like a sneaky star the trade does not feel as rough.

    Everybody could be fit healthy and happy with a great six figure job if they buckled down and worked hard Most people are fine being fat and tired and making $50k as an HVAC tech or whatever These "problems" are basically universal

    Vlad is performing at his 1st percentile possibilities in basically every way Mans could have been an 8 win 3B who slowly became a 1B then DH over an 18 year career Instead he's a 1 WAR DH already
