  1. Amazing deal for LA. The pillow deal people wanted him to sign here. Dodgers To Sign Teoscar Hernandez January 7th, 2024 at 8:47pm CST • By Mark Polishuk The Dodgers have agreed to a one-year, $23.5MM deal with outfielder Teoscar Hernandez, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan (X links). Only $15MM of that salary will be paid to Hernandez this year, as the rest is deferred and will be paid out in installments from 2030-39. Reporter Moises Fabian (via X) was first with the news that Hernandez had signed with Los Angeles. Hernandez is represented by Republik Sports.
  2. The "database error" has been happening intermittently for months There is also a double posting glitch that happens from time to time
  3. That's what they want but they won't get it My guess for Chapman is 4/$80m. He'd be lucky to get $100m Bellinger, maybe he does get $150m
  4. But will cost maybe twice as much
  5. Before the season people thought the outfield changes might increase offense because fences were coming in Shapiro was on record saying they weren't sure how it would play since fences were going up, down, in, out, all over. Keep in mind that the infield changes this off-season will significantly decrease the space in foul territory. That might increase offense significantly
  6. Well... duh! Brantley and Biggio probably do have very similar eyes, though. Biggio just has the higher walk rate because he has to be patient or else he sucks. Brantley was such a good hitter he didn't have to do that.
  7. Biggio is a 40 on a good day Brantley is an easy 70. Might be more
  8. Well, they're not gonna give him away. He's worth an Addison Barger type prospect Might see them move Kyle Farmer for peanuts instead
  9. Check your 1994 census You might be this kids grandpa!
  10. Sounds like the mom was a hooker And mom trafficked the minor And Franco came along and knew exactly what he was doing from the start. Knew it was wrong, admitted same in writing, even had mom sign an NDA or something. And this is just one of the complaints...
  11. Get ownership from ju1ced I guess And then upgrade the servers or whatever. And remove ads. Not sure if he would transfer ownership/control but I don't think he makes money on the thing so maybe he would.
  12. loving the IKF signing more and more each day wow, what a spectacular defender
  13. "He received some interest from the Blue Jays this winter but it appears he will hang up his spikes instead." https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/
  14. Michael Brantley's choices were retire or play for Toronto. He chose to retire. Says a lot about ROSS if we are being honest.
  15. Yeah exactly Whoever was pounding the table for Ernie Clement last March probably got a lot of brownie points
  16. Getting interesting players signed is probably a numbers game. I bet it is something like this: - the nerds put together preference lists... e.g. here are 15 catchers who may sign an MiLB deal, ranked by how good we think they are - Atkins has some involvement because professional and agent relationships are involved but a good chunk of the negotiations or calls are left to perhaps the AGMs But these can have big implications so definitely not just dismissed to some kid
  17. I don't see the point in grading Franco's morality. Whatever happens to him criminally is a standalone matter. Doesn't really matter if he is an 80 grade creep or just a 60 grade creep. The relevant question here is just... does he ever have a chance of playing in MLB again? Pretty obvious the answer is no
  18. Man performed a census on the Boca Chica sex workers 30 years ago but swears he did "not partake"
  19. Yeah can just read between the lines. For example, the tone of Atkins recent interview gives this away. Also Atkins has started paying the message board shills like myself to set expectations lower.
  20. I agree, mostly. Sort of. Holliday is a stud. I think Westburg, Ortiz, Norby, Mayo are all solid. But guys like Kjerstad and Cowser and Beavers are perhaps worse or no better than all of Roden, Horwitz, even Clement, Jimenez, Barger... They are way better than Toronto but it's Holliday the star and a few extra guys who could be league average, being the difference. It's not like they have ten bats that all project better man for man that Toronto's ten best. And prospects are so volatile. Roden could be better than most of their bats for all we know. Orelvis could reasonably be better than Mayo. Leo Jimenez could be a 60 defender and better than a lot of their dudes. Who knows.
  21. You would lower these percentile outcomes but not because you expect specific players to bust or be riskier. It's just because history says at least half of them will never supply any MLB value whatsoever. Another way to do it is keep your 50th percentile outcomes for the players you like the most but be brutally honest about some of the guys and admit that 80% of the time they are replacement level or worse.
  22. I agree, and hope they do bring in two more bats. Someone with actual, bankable offense and then a 3B option who can hit a bit. Just don't really know who that 3B is though... Urshela could be completely cooked. Longoria and Donaldson probably are cooked. Brian Anderson was useless last year. Turner probably can't even play 3B unless it's an emergency. .... Donovan Solano? Don't see how he is any better than the incumbent depth options. With the FA options so horrendous, if Jorge Polanco is actually on the trade block then I think some team is going to end up paying real prospect capital to Minnesota for the right to pay him $10M in 2024. Seems desperate. Maybe Toronto is desperate. That trade would honestly probably be hard to stomach. Like, Addison Barger for Jorge Polanco. Sticking with the Twins and their ostensible infield depth, Kyle Farmer and Jose Miranda might be closer to "free".
  23. The scrappiest team in history with a top 5 payroll
  24. Yeah but it has Espinal as 1.9 WAR. So between Espinal, Clement, and all the other depth infield options like Schneider, Barger, Orelvis, Leo Jimenez... I guess the point is that if there is only ONE big signing/acquisition left, personally I am spending the budget on the best bat which probably means a DH like JDM or Joc
