  1. The players to get jettisoned will certainly come from the group of Espinal, Zulueta, Pop, or Little. I feel like Pearson and Danner just have too much upside and are a bit too close to being good to let walk. Zulueta or Pop traded for cash considerations, maybe that happens. I dunno. Zulu for international signing money? He probably has no trade value I guess. Zulu and Pop... the sinker is just out of style and neither of them seems to have a real handle on it.
  2. There is a bull-case for everyone on the 40 man roster. There is also a bear-case. Zulu and Macko are there because they have longer term upside, and had to be added. Every player on the 40 man roster is either a longer term play who had to be added or someone who is on the immediate call up radar. There is literally nobody on the 40 man roster who is not one of those two things. If Toronto had one LHRP then Little would be more important, but they do have two. They also have some non-40 man LHRP behind him.
  3. The third "non-bulk next man up" in AAA is always a DFA candidate because they are fungible John Schneider probably has a nice thing to say about every player in the organization!
  4. Brendon Little is also on the 40
  5. Right, this makes sense. I guess the only reason to not DFA him is "to be nice" or something and deanmike is going to pop in soon and use the term "pseudo-vet treatment"
  6. Just option him? He's still important SS depth even if he costs too much and is worth nothing at the moment. One injury and they would need him up.
  7. I will cry actual tears if they keep Espinal and dump Clement.
  8. Yikes. Well, at least we get the "no structural damage" assurance. Those both sound like IL stints though. Pearson and Pop the obvious make the team candidates.
  9. Damn he might actually be fine
  10. Gausman threw 23 pitches on Friday, apparently. Berrios threw about 80 pitches on Sunday in his 4th ST appearance. Gausman could do something like this: 40 P on Mar 20th 60 P on Mar 25th (last day of spring training) That would set him up for 80 P on his fourth turn, which would be on Saturday or Sunday during the first series of the season in Tampa Bay. White could follow him for 40+ pitches. And then perhaps full go for the Yankee game April 5th. So he could actually not miss a start. But his first regular season start will likely be cut short. And possibly his second; they might not let him throw 100+ pitches. This of course depends on him feeling 100% and his stuff being fine.
  11. Varsho is going to be good this year. Seems like he is going to run more and be more of a put it in play guy, at least in certain counts or matchups. .260/.330/.450 20/30 4.5 WAR
  12. is it a cracked Fire stick or something?
  13. Probably as good as the Phillies You left the Braves out
  14. The lineup is only bad if you are a pessimist / don't believe in the players which... you could say about almost every team. It's natural for Jays fans to be cynical about the offense because of how 2023 went but I still think people are overreacting Everyone who underperformed other than Springer is on the good side of the aging curve. Water flows downhill, young players tend to improve or regress positively. Simple concept!
  15. Toronto probably sends him to AAA just because they can and it lets them delay any 40 man decision for a couple weeks
  16. Yes it can 97 isn't actually a bad grade for a fastball from a starter workload. Closer to average. I think he needs two versions of the slider though, and he needs to throw it more. Needs a sweeper and a bullet slider. Something like that. The fastball still isn't "good" but it's good enough provided the other parts of the arsenal work.
  17. He hit 100 for Vancouver in September, apparently Not this spring
  18. Maybe you won't care in two months! When Chapman is hitting .190 with average defense
  19. Eric Pardinho is a super sleeper now I guess Was popping 96 today with various pitches. Heard he hit 100 at the end of the season in Vancouver. Can kind of ignore the ERA in the minors since between COVID and TJS he has barely pitched. Could be someone they just jump straight to the MLB pen at any point
  20. Ernie Clement first two whiffs of spring Only took Zach Wheeler to do it. And one of them was a foul tip.
  21. Instantly becomes the most interesting #5 candidate. Once stretched out of course.
  22. Y Rod has good stuff grades!
  23. 2/$34M for a guy with a 1.9 WAR projection And making Sal Frelick learn the infield because they have no money to get a 3B Then JD Davis costs $3M with almost the same projection as Hoskins
  24. This is honestly very cringe There is a whole convoy of you guys who think you're brave contrarians. You say the same s*** and like each other's posts all the time, lmao. Cute little persecution fantasy. Ohhhhh noooo the ivory tower baseball liberals are trying to squash dissent!!!
