  1. The New York If Healthies, everybody
  2. How about a soft floor, to mirror the current soft cap? Penalize teams if they don't spend above the soft floor. Make their draft picks and international budgets worse.
  3. From June 14th to June 28th, Jack Suwinski went one for forty-three. In the following two weeks he went: .333/.479/.667
  4. Kind of a bummer, I was curious to see how good he could be as an old fart throwing 87 mph poo I kind of thought he would be tricky enough to be a solid SP4 doing that
  5. He hits tons of flyballs and strikes out at a decent clip so he will always have slumps. Every year he will have a horrible stretch or two. But if you pussy out at the bottom, during his slumps, you won't benefit from the inevitable homer barrage. Jack Suwinski is a really good comp of another current, young player like this. Broke into the league as a non-prospect and nobody thought much of him, but the Pirates suck and gave him a full season and he was a 3 win player. .224/.339/.454 Schneider might have a slightly better hit tool than Suwinski, just looking at MiLB K rates.
  6. Everyone who talks about 2B like it's even a question mark Many pundits reference him likes he's just "in the mix" in the infield
  7. DS is criminally underrated because of how his season ended. It's human bias. His debut as a whole was fantastic and his projections are strong. He's probably a top 40 prospect objectively
  8. Oh shiiiiiiiiit it's a business!? Since when!!!???
  9. What does a Trout trade even look like 32.5 years old 4 WAR per 600 PA projected but injury issues 7 years, $260M left on the contract He probably is not worth that deal, not even close, but there is some chance he could have a couple more MVP seasons so he's definitely not your normal 32 year old star player... As a fan, I'd be fine with my team just taking him and the entire contract. You just pray for the best and take pride that your team saved him from being a career Angel.
  10. I dunno, I feel like he's just a hedge. If they end up trading an infielder or two his chances go way up. This paragraph is just pure assumption and I think it's wrong: I have trouble thinking that Toronto would slot Escobar ahead of multiple players who project better than him
  11. Bizarre trade tonight. Padres drafted Blake Dickerson in 2023 and signed him for $500k. They just traded him to the a tigers for $500k in international pool money.
  12. Mets signing Luke Voit to a minor league deal Do they not know how bad that look is? How dare they. Pete Alonso is probably pissed
  13. Clearly they are "retooling" without rebuilding Soft rebuild, basically
  14. Vogelbach has offensive projections that are the same as Horwitz. Nobody should be "scared" of him making the team as the last man on the bench - the team would be almost identical as if he didn't make it. Even if it's a small chance. Panik was a different signing made in a very different context
  15. Do you have any sense of how any of this works? It's not like they sign these guys and then tell them "yeah bud you have almost no chance of making the team" Greg Bird was this player two years ago, he had a 2.000 OPS in spring and people were ordering jerseys, and he didn't even make the team
  16. Yeah I'd say you have a chance with a couple breakouts Need pitching though Bats look solid for a few years for sure
  17. I don't see it with Escobar, he was so bad and is so old. This is like Dexter Fowler in 2022. He might get some playing time in 2024 if he willing to go to Buffalo for a while. Vogelbach projects to be about the same as Horwitz so I guess he could be the final bench piece and get some PAs. Horwitz would be the fave though since he has the youth up arrow and a bit more defensive utility. I'm not even sure Vogelbach can do 1B anymore
  18. Horwitz vs Vogelbach is funny They are incredibly similar at the dish. Bit more power for Vogelbach but less hits.
  19. Both these guys are so cooked. Only way Vogelbach and Escobar get MLB time this year is probably a team level injury event. Food poisoning on March 27th. Mass hysteria in the clubhouse. A tragic group bicycle accident that is probably Alek Manoah's fault. Zombies.
  20. Some of you guys are too much Did you also get saddy sad when they signed Greg Bird and Dexter Fowler in 2022? Did you wake up at 3 am and pee your Toy Story jammies about the roster implications of those signings?
  21. Yeah when these shortstops turn 30 and move off the position it tends to be lights out There are actually very few 31+ year old full time SS in MLB at any given time, guys like Brandon Crawford playing SS at 34 are dinosaurs
  22. It seems like the justification right now is just that they want Kim at SS. Reading between those lines, the actual justification is probably multitudes: - Kim is a better SS right now - Kim has more trade value if he is picking it at short and looks great - Jackson Merrill's natural position is SS
  23. Padres are moving Bogaerts to 2B, one year into his contract What a horrible execution of... everything... by the Padres. I guess this lets them slide Jackson Merrill into the SS role without obstruction when he is ready. Kim being the SS in the short term may be a better alignment.
  24. Still has a little ponch but that's just genetics Now if Kirk shows up looking like less of a meatball, that'll be 3/3 on the fatty watch front
