  1. What I heard on a podcast is that this new "internal brace" procedure for partial tears makes it easier for teams to try the recovery route. If he has traditional TJS today, he might not be in games again until June 2025 (16 months). But the internal brace thing tends to be much closer to an actual one year recovery. So he could try to rehab for the next 6 weeks and if it doesn't work, he could have internal brace TJS before April and still maybe be in games in April 2025.
  2. Someone go press Scott Mitchell on the Jorge Soler lies
  3. Man you probably should Roster looking long in the tooth
  4. Can't lose on a minor league deal but I see no light for Eduardo. I don't even think it's a case where he was hurt. He just sucked. Yes, he was productive in 2022 but it is rare to see a statcast page that is "dead blue" like his 2023 page lmao. His shtick from his good years seems to have been finding barrels despite having middling or even below average raw power. One of these trajectory dudes. Maybe he can teach some of the tweener bats in AAA how to yank more dingers.
  5. You don't typically get to pick your minor league signees You can have a preference list but for the most part if you find one veteran who thinks there is an opportunity and is willing to spend some time in Buffalo, you have to just sign 'em up. Player picks the team more than anything. I presume.
  6. His xwOBA last year was actually worse than his wOBA
  7. Hope so Don't see how he fits or makes sense otherwise

  9. careful man, dean knows things and there are several dean stans at this point
  10. But that was always true and the Ohtani stuff basically proves it There are only a few dorks like JimCanuk who think that Cody Bellinger is "the right player" though Everyone realizes that even if Chapman is available on a pillow they probably dump a bit of payroll in the process, somehow
  11. <<< Keegan Matheson @KeeganMatheson · 4m The biggest takeaway from #BlueJays GM Ross Atkins: “At this point, additions that would be of significance would mean some level of subtraction.” He added: “Now it makes more sense, operationally for us, if we consider an addition, that we should be subtracting.”>>> Not news but it does align with what most of us here have recently been talking about, with regards to trimming some salary if Chapman or Bellinger come begging for a pillow deal. He might also be talking about options and available roster space, though.
  12. Manoah has turned back the clock Also heard that Mitch White is touching 99 and has been fooling around with Gausman's splitter...
  13. I understand your point, people who try to trim too aggressively would lose muscle But he could probably gain effective power or arm speed, or stamina, by losing some of the mass / body fat. Think relative strength. You can lose weight and lose absolute strength (you bench less) while gaining relative strength (you can do more pushups) Or at least return his mechanics to what they used to be when he weighed 40 lbs less
  14. Okay but he does look more normal here. I think this is more what he looked like when he entered the league.
  15. Siri + Caballeto + Pinto might be one too many nothing hitters for the regular lineup. I know it's the Rays and they know what they are doing but I don't love anybody in the rotation after Eflin, either. Even their good plays have obvious flaws. Yandy Diaz has hit for power once, Arozarena has whiff issues, Lowe is a platoon player, J Lowe might be a platoon player
  16. omg Gunnar Henderson oblique strain Samuel Basallo stress fracture in elbow
  17. Did you just f***ing Compare Salt Lake City To.... Toronto????? Yeah no s*** there was no traffic downtown its f***ing salt lake city buddy
  18. Yeah maybe something like 3/$60M with an opt out after year 1
  19. I would prefer Chapman. 3B is more of a hole than anywhere in the OF, and he will be a smaller long term commitment. IKF just slides into the Merrifield role, so he's not pointless at all
  20. love these 1920s photos of Christie Pits https://spacing.ca/toronto/2015/04/14/illustrated-history-baseball-toronto/
  21. what do they even do for Toronto that isn't just blue and white? looks like the first semi-pro baseball club in Toronto was called the Toronto Dauntless. That's a cool name.
  22. incoming gold and yellow ovo ********
  23. Would kind of be hell if you were a player who liked baseball, to have your peers and friends reporting to spring while you are unemployed for purely financial reasons
  24. The Jays are definitely just trying to get one of them on a pure stink bid So, you'd definitely still bet on the field
