  1. Palmegiani really had a hitless spring? wow
  2. I feel like Montgomery is a lemon I would not care if any AL Easy team signs him. If Baltimore wants to use that chunk of their long-term budget on a mid-rotation guy, go ahead.
  3. One thing we could do is get rid of most of the current stickied threads, and move Around Baseball and General Blue Jays Discussion and the MiLB Discussion threads to the stickied section.
  4. Yeah I dunno why it happens this way. There is no law or whatever against other threads. People can create them. There is almost always a new thread for big news. We do have the Minor League thread, which is a good example. Not sure though that hitting, starting pitching, or bullpen threads would make sense on their own. Hmmmm. Maybe.
  5. what does this have to do with Schneider
  6. A mobster bookie who knew the guy has a massively rich friend who would probably pay his debts
  7. Gil always had great stuff. Matos is just good, based on prospect pedigree and prior stats. Weathers, I've heard that he changed his pitches. Pitch design breakout?
  8. Not that I have seen. Not like that. The guys who had great springs as young prospects were already all top prospects. Delauter, Wood, Spencer Jones. Brock Wilken was a top FYPD pick. Andy Pages was a hot commodity a year ago. On the pitching side the story is a few post-hype breakouts. Well, possible breakouts. Puk, Ryne Nelson, Weathers, and Luis Gil. Also pitching models adore Jared Jones.
  9. Still, 70 wRC+ last year Just take it year to year with him like wtf.
  10. 7 year ext for Tovar, lmao It's like the Rockies don't even use WAR or any similar measurements of value
  11. Wouldn't call it mangled unless those UCLs start popping Just a couple little boo boos so far
  12. I wouldn't be shocked to see a Tim Mayza sudden IL placement Ppl saying his velo is way down
  13. Okay so the Angels were already the worst organization in baseball but now they are the worst twice over. Tyler Skaggs is fed illicit drugs by team employees and dies. Mobsters are gambling with players in the Angels hotel, and successfully leveraging Angels players for millions of dollars in illegal payouts.
  14. Not sure! The friend might go to jail here. Ohtani might end up pleading guilty to being an accessory to wire fraud, and paying a fine. MLB is actually in a tough spot. The story is WORSE than people are talking about I think because this bookie was at the Angels hotel, gambling and soliciting MLB players. So there might be more here! Arguably if MLB doesn't do something to Ohtani it sets a horrible example.
  15. I don't think this makes sense I like Lukes just fine and he's had a good spring but if KK is healthy, it's not like Lukes is going to be much use. Occasional pinch running duty. Pure injury backup for the OF. Maybe gets one start in the first two weeks, if one of the old guys needs a break. I could see Vogelbach having more utility. Is the above Lukes possible usage worth more than having DV to pinch hit in almost every game, and maybe start a few times at DH against RHP? With Turner in the field. Lukes might get some extended opportunity later on if there is an OF injury.
  16. The above just tracks with everything. Ohtani literally did send the wires, from his personal online banking, with the interpreter there at this side. But reasonably Ohtani didn't even know it was illegal so there is an argument the friend sort of duped him, lied to him so to speak. Of course ignorance is seldom a defense when it comes to laws like this. You can't really just tell the cops you didn't do any due diligence on the $4.5M you wired.
  17. Here is the key info.
  18. That would also make sense. Some players just play through injuries and we never hear of them. He did IMO become weirdly slow and stiff, almost suddenly
  19. He was smaller and more mobile when he came up I think he added mass to try and add power and it took away too much of his speed and mobility. And defensive talent.
  20. It didn't look great. He was limping. Hopefully a bone bruise is all
  21. Jim how the f*** are you even thinking you were right? Manoah died, Gausman is hurt, Y Rod is delayed, Tiedemann had a healthy spring... if RT doesn't break camp with Toronto then he basically had zero chance and you're dunking on yourself
  22. RE Ohtani I agree with Eno Sarris Most plausible explanation is that the assistant was extended that much credit because the bookie figured there was a good chance Ohtani would pay a debt that big. Ohtani did pay it, probably naive to the fact that there is some California law against paying off someone else's gambling debts in that way. That is the simplest explanation that explains everything. It explains why Ohtani first said he paid off the debt then there was a change of story and the new story was that the funds were stolen.
