  1. Too much panic in this thread over this. We'll see if they can find a platoon partner for Pillar.
  2. Get him AA, this guy will fix that clubhouse.
  3. If your scenario pans out, it'll cost the team under 10M.
  4. So the 2012 payroll ended up at 103M instead of 85M meaning they increased it by 20M in 2013 instead of 40Mish that's been thrown around. At least according to Cot's baseball contracts.
  5. I meant more from management's standpoint. I believe the payroll increase was in large part due to the fact that the team would've been expected to lose 90-100 games going into 2013. This would've meant lower attendance, ratings and interest in the team. This was probably a major deciding factor in choosing option 2. Also, the team did win 85 games in 2010, IIRC. Not saying that's a great accomplishment, but it would've likely put them in the 2nd WC race in 2012.
  6. IMO, the Blue Jays had 2 options after the horrible 2012 season: 1. Take a step back or 2 in the rebuilding/retooling they were doing (which would've meant trading Bautista and a couple others). 2. Spend money/prospects to speed up the contending process. They chose #2, but had they chosen 1 and gotten Profar, they would be further away from contention than they are at this point. And yes, 'spects are risky.
  7. Since you brought it up, let's discuss the real reason he fell apart. Evel Knievel was right, women are the root of all evil.
  8. I'm sure RealAccountant agrees with you.
  9. Or paying Romero whatever he's being paid...
  10. For the 2nd time, Jenkins wasn't an AA draftee. On the other hand, at least he has been developed into a possible long reliever.
  11. Drafted in 2009 (i.e. before AA took over) and was he ever a top prospect?
  12. Also, for Deck McGuire and Tyler Gonzales, AA can raise you a Sean Nolin and a Kendall Graveman. Or their possible replacements in Matt Boyd and Taylor Cole.
  13. I think the point is about draftees/signees that actually became prospects only to "crash and burn" in the upper minors. There have been plenty of busts that's for sure. It also speaks to the high percentage of pitchers that have been drafted under him.
  14. Yes, that's one example. On the other hand, we have the Dickey trade. To be fair, it took a lot more than Nolin and Graveman to get Donaldson, but point is well taken.
  15. Only thing to nit-nose-pick would be that Hutchison was drafted in 2009 ( I think). On the other hand, he's been developed under AA and development has been one of the complaints some posters have had against the Jays.
  16. I just posted about this. You could be right and AA has shown a willingness to wheel and deal so it might be part of his strategy since he's drafted so much pitching.
  17. It's also somewhat realistic to expect some of the above-mentioned pitching prospects to be used as trade bait and hopefully (if in fact traded) turn them into readier or established MLB players.
  18. I imagine you forgot Hoffman, but that's fine for me. 2 out of the above list plus Hutchison and Stroman is pretty f***ing good.
  19. We'll have to wait and see, but I think Travis will be solid. I think some here would "feel" better about him if he had some PA's at AAA. I think his performance was good enough to warrant a promotion so that's fine for me. In fact, the bigger issue is whether or not he can remain healthy. I'd also be fine with him going to Buffalo for the first month and working his way up.
  20. Maybe if they signed Jaime Escudos he'd be the one, but I'd still go with Stroman.
  21. It should be Stroman of course. If they in fact let Martin catch the knuckler, then I think it'll signal that they're moving on from sucking up to what RAD thinks since he wants Thole to catch him which = Stroman getting the start. I think it's more important who pitches the home opener.
  22. Going into last season, the bullpen was viewed a s strength yet it struggled. Funny how bullpens work.
  23. Yeah, but come on, being at the 5 with 1:06 to go gives you better odds than being at the 38 on 2nd down and 10. My point was also in the context of how the Patriots were been beaten in their 2 SB losses against the Giants where I remember some pretty darn good catches as well.
  24. I got you afterwards, I was a bit hyped up by the ending...my bad. I was rooting for the Pats and thought game was over when that Matthews guy was burning them all over the field at the end of the 1st half and during the 3rd quarter.
  25. It was also a crazy interception by the Pats' CB. It seemed as if he just broke towards that spot instinctively. I'm just referring to the crazy catch because the Pats must've been having flashbacks to the 2 SB losses against the Giants.
