  1. Maybe framing doesn't work against them Yanks!
  2. It would be good to have either Sanchez or Norris as the 6th SP in AAA. I'll let the team decide which way they decide to go, but we'll also have to see if there's any glimmer of hope for Santana.
  3. So basically, some are saying Donaldson is overrated on "D".
  4. Hopefully they keep him as a SP either in AAA or MLB. The fact that both Stroman and Hutchison developed a new pitch and/or improved their existing arsenal during the 2014 season provides at least a glimmer of hope that Pete Walker can help Sanchez out.
  5. Looking forward to watching Norris pitch, love watching the young guys! That's one of the things that makes the Stroman injury so painful, but at least there's still Hutchison and possibly Norris and Sanchez to watch develop. Then you have the possibility of guys like Castro and Osuna moving quickly through the system if they pitch well and being possible Sept call-ups. Hopefully guys like Cole and Boyd force their way up as well and replace Graveman and Nolin.
  6. Speaking of adding pitches, didn't Stroman and Hutchison learn or improve at least one of their pitches during the 2014 season? If so, do we know if it was Pete Walker who taught them? You'd have to think he had something to do with it and if that's the case, he may be able to help Sanchez improve/widen his repertoire.
  7. I guess some here miss Happ already, but then they'd be complaining about LF.
  8. Juan Oramas was also brought in. He made 21 starts for the Padres' AAA affiliate in 2014.
  9. So you're fine with "Jeff Francis types if that's all you can get"? I have news for you, Jeff Francis was signed. Liam Hendriks has had good minor league numbers in other organizations and so has Todd Redmond. Estrada has had success in MLB as a SP. What's wrong with signing Santana? Nothing to lose. As far as 2012 goes, different circumstances, F/O was retooling an almost-barren organization and I doubt they were trying to win.
  10. Jays were probably Santana's only suitor and they still ended up giving him incentive bonuses.
  11. There's always these imaginary scenarios whereby the team could just sign all the top depth options at SP as if they're just lining up to pitch at the RC. Player agents aren't dumb, they analyze these types of things and advice their clients on where they should be looking (see JJ and Morrow signing with the Pads).
  12. Also, I gave you examples of AA trading away prospects for veterans to refute your statement that AA "fantasizes about every single one of his pitching prospects panning out like a homer fan would".
  13. I think the team didn't want their top pitching prospects pitching at Las Vegas when those 3 were promoted from AA, but I wasn't following the team as closely back then so I could be mistaken. Would you feel better if he had kept Happ, Nolin and Graveman? Then again, the team wouldn't have Michael Saunders in LF and Josh Donaldson at 3B. Also, who are these "bunch of depth guys" you would've added and, if you're referring to guys looking to rebuild their value after a down or injury-filled year, would the RC really be your first choice to rebuild your value?
  14. AA gave up Alvarez as part of the package to get Buehrle. He also gave up Syndergaard in the Dickey deal. Just this off season, he gave up Nolin and Graveman in the Donaldson deal. Just sayin'.
  15. s*** happens. What team has a 3-4 win starter as depth? We'll see what happens.
  16. In all seriousness, punched in the gut is what this feels like. Not only because of how this reduces the team's chances, but because he's the type of pitcher you look forward to watching pitch. Hope he comes back as good as new.
  17. If Stroman were Canadian, he'd be back in 3 weeks, but...
  18. Stay calm. Don't make panic trades. The team's long term outlook is looking at least decent with last year's emergence from Stroman, Hutchison, Pompey, Norris and a few others. Stay the course, f windows.
  19. Well, it's now pretty clear this team is winning the WS this year.
  20. s***, aren't we glad AA didn't sign that guy to an extension after 2013.
  21. They won't do this out of the gate, but if they both continue to develop, they could be used the way Sanchez was in 2014 to limit innings.
  22. Close to regular line-up...looking forward to watching the game on MUTE!
  23. I don't see it the same way. Beane got 1 established 23/24 year old MLBer, 2 MLB-ready SP + a top-ranked middle IF prospect who has done nothing but rake at a very young age. I like the trade for the Jays, but they gave up valuable pieces.
