  1. You're smart.
  2. Except that you flat out said he was traded because of his health, lol: No big deal, you probably meant something else
  3. This is accurate. AA's plan was to move Lawrie to 2B. But maybe once he got Travis, he thought they might be covered there.
  4. Saying he was traded because of his injury-proneness implies the team was looking to "get rid" of him. AA said they weren't looking to trade him, but Beane insisted he be included in the package. I just don't think the team was looking to give Lawrie away because of his injury history.
  5. I would have no problem with keeping Lind, but getting Estrada made it easier to trade Happ. As I've said already, I'm happy with the replacements to Lind/Lawrie/Happ/Cabrera. When you add it all up, it's a better team at a lower co$t.
  6. Lawrie was traded because they were getting Josh Donaldson back.
  7. Lawrie was traded as part of the package to get Donaldson. Blue Jays likely view Estrada as replacing Happ, at a lower cost and without whining if moved to the BP. Saunders will replace Cabrera in LF. And they did save money over all with these moves. I think they also got better, but hey, that's secondary.
  8. That's what they did though. You are all hung up on losing Lind and while his bat was pretty good, you have to accept that AA had decided to either get what he could in return or decline his option. Here's how things went down: Oct 28th: Blue Jays claim Justin Smoak off waivers from Mariners. Nov 1st: Blue Jays trade Adam Lind to Brewers for P Marco Estrada. That's the Smoak/Lind connection. Here's what AA said about the trade:
  9. I said they "may not" have gotten Donaldson. Point being that if they had used some of the assets they gave up in the Donaldson trade to get a really good 2B, they may not have pursued the Donaldson trade. Besides, getting a guy like Donaldson changes things quite a bit. And it's not like Travis couldn't have been offered to Oakland instead of Barreto or Lawrie.
  10. Who was your stop-gap though? Just curious.
  11. Lind/Lawrie/Happ/Cabrera vs Smoak/Donaldson/Estrada/Saunders and arguably some $ left over.
  12. Well, since Travis is a 2B, the 2B issue had lots to do with that trade. We'll see how things shake out, but I think that was their 2B move. I'm sure they would've liked a utility IF, but that didn't happen.
  13. I think Devon Travis was their 2B move. Had they focused their efforts towards a 2B, they may not have gotten Donaldson.
  14. Send him down, but start him at AA.
  15. He showed all 3 of his pitches ( I think the 87MPH pitch was his change-up) and showed command. SSS of course. Hopefully, they give him another inning.
  16. Pretty much true. Especially the part about last year. It's just the way bullpens are and I'm very glad AA didn't spend money on it this off season even though some here fully expected him to spend most of his available budget on it. I also hope they use Sanchez as SP depth instead of out of the BP. We'll see what happens.
  17. Closerz have the final say.
  18. It was a good try nonetheless. The team had very little coming up when AA took over and he went out and got young Major Leaguers like Morrow, Escobar and Rasmus. Plus, remember, he's diabetic and that may have something to do with his injury-proneness. On the other hand, there are non-diabetics who are also injury-prone. Anyway...
  19. Sanchez gave up no runs in 6 appearances during ST 2014.
  20. Russell Martin on Sanchez's curveball: “The umpire, it was his first game of the year and (Sanchez) throws a backdoor snapdragon, it kind of froze him a little bit,” Martin said of the pivotal pitch to Polanco. “But he’s got a devastating curveball, the action on it is pretty severe."
  21. I get what you're saying and the signing does make me nervous also. However, several of us have been way wrong about what we expected AA to do this off season so I remain hopeful that it's just a free look and not much more and than that. You also have to look at the fact that AA has almost flat-out said he's not there to play OF, so that's a positive, at least in that they recognize his awful D.
  22. He IS redundant and inferior to Valencia and I don't really like the player at all, but I won't get worked up over a minor league deal, especially this early in ST and with the off season AA had. It's a free look at a 25 year old who has power...and only power, lol. We'll have to wait and see how things transpire.
  23. I don't know why you don't bring over some sexy cubanas for your pimping business, you might be able to afford to upgrade to a horse instead of a donkey for your reconnaissance trips.
  24. I look at it this way: if Viciedo gets 300 ABs, that would mean the Jays are out of it and he would help them #tank for a higher pick!
