  1. Some people confuse parity with weakness. Given the parity, some think the team should just spend a bunch of money. Who knows, I think what they've tried to do over the last 2 seasons is spend some money and prospects to avoid going into the last 2 seasons without any chance at the playoffs which would've been the case. As it stands now, the farm is producing some young talent that is being blended in with the vetrins. I wouldn't have minded a top 5 pick in both 2014 and 2015, but it's just not the way this franchise operates.
  2. Is the A.L. East really weak or just more balanced? For awhile, the O's and Rays were absolute crap and the Yanks and Red Sox were very good. Now all teams are pretty close.
  3. Thank you AA? Anyone want to give the F/O credit for this young talent? We always s*** on them, but I don't trust the Rogers guy to hire a better F/O.
  4. Without these guys's emergence, the franchise would have to increase payroll to 150-160M to contend. The team hasn't banked on this many rookies in a while, however, it hasn't won with them vetrins either. Bottomline: if you be good, you be good.
  5. The young guys's emergence is huge for this franchise albeit it's only ST. Pompey is looking really good a bit under the radar with a lot of the focus on the 4 young pitchers and on Travis, but, to say the least, he's done nothing to make anyone doubt him. Travis has done almost everything to earn the 2B job. Norris has been really good. Sanchez is what he is, but it's encouraging that the team is having him work on a new pitch. And despite my disagreement with bringing Castro and/or Osuna north with the team, I can see why the organization is so high on them. They throw hard, but have offspeed pitches that they command to get hitters off-balance.
  6. I'm quite against this, but I guess AA's trying to save his job.
  7. Overall, when you factor in these 2 plus Pompey, Stroman, Hutchison, Sanchez, this team is so much more fun to watch, regardless of whether they make the playoffs or not. Then you add Martin, Donaldson and Saunders and you get my drift. Freakin' injury to Stroman was a huge blow. I think we deserve an epic RR comeback to make up for it.
  8. True dat. I also seem to remember that he struggled at the plate after coming back from the oblique injury. Once he got over the injury and got his timing back (convenient assumption here), he seemed to take off.
  9. Not surprisingly, Travis looking MLB ready although it is ST. Thing is, all he's done is hit since entering proball. He could've been promoted to AAA last season really, but Tigers decided to move him to CF so that may have delayed those plans.
  10. I think they did leave themselves some wiggle room for moves at the deadline. I think payroll is around 130M whereas it was around 137M last season so they probably have a bit of room. If they trade Navarro that would create some extra room although I think they'd have to eat part of his salary. Next year, they'll have another chunk of $ coming off the books with Navarro, Buehrle, Izturis and Romero being FA. That's like 35M, if I'm right.
  11. If I remember correctly, last off season, the Blue Jays were almost maxed out at around 135M without adding anyone to the roster. They ended up adding Navarro at around 3M, but I can't remember anyone else being signed. This off season, the Blue Jays were able to put together an arguably better team at a lower co$t by replacing FA deartures with cheaper options, i.e. Cabrera/Saunders, Rasmus/Pompey, Lind/Smoak and Happ/Estrada. We'll see what happens.
  12. Gibbons has made it quite clear that he's leaning towards Thole catching Dickey. If that's what they do and they have an 8-man bullpen and 3-catcher bench, someone should be fired or ownership is as clueless as I suspect it is.
  13. Not being fat enough?
  14. Funny, so many wanted the Jays to sign Masterson. On the other hand, it's ST.
  15. Tune into the TV broadcast, it's way more enjoyable.
  16. The fact that both Stroman and Hutchison either developed a new pitch or improved their existing pitch (es) gives me some hope that someone in the blue jays coaching staff's doing some good work at the MLB level.
  17. Not to get involved, but Norris took a step forward around midway through the 2013 season. I think Pompey did as well.
  18. Good to see the chicken littles in mid-season form!
  19. That's the way you see it. I just think we're seeing him in decline rather than him not trying. All good, we just see things differently.
  20. And my post is suggesting a possible explanation for the bobbles (rustiness). I didn't say you or anyone else had called him s***.
  21. It's generally believed he was moved because the Tigers have Kinsler at 2B for several years and since he's almost ready and the they needed a CF after trading Jackson, they moved him there. I think he's rusty and will improve.
  22. Just to educate myself, what made you think he was unmotivated last year?
  23. Remember boys, Travis had been moved to CF by the Tigers late last season and then got injured and missed the remainder of the season. May I suggest he's rusty?
  24. Yes because this guy wasn't being sarcastic.
