  1. Maeda's been posted and already signed? s***, me been missing too much s***.
  2. It makes all the sense in the world for him to sign with a team that plays in a pitcher-friendly park or in the NL. In general, I really doubt the Jays can be big players in the FA market for pitchers, but I've been wrong before.
  3. I have absolutely no issue with Cabrera waiting for the best deal he could get. All I'm saying is that the Jays' reported offer of 39M over 3 years was pretty bang on, as it turned out.
  4. Yankees weaker than they've been in the past = "AL East sucks" to many.
  5. At the end of the day, the Jays offered 3M less than he ended up signing for so it looks like a fair offer to me, give or take a M or 3.
  6. IIRC, Estrada was decent as a reliever last season. I do agree that they planned on using Happ as trade bait all along since they had SP depth. However, I like Estrada/Saunders plus extra $$ over Happ/Cabrera, but we'll see how it turns out. Regarding Lind, you could always come up with scenarios in your head where he would've gotten you more than Estrada, but the fact is that if another team wanted him badly enough, it could've just beat the Brewers' offer. Who knows really, but I like the overall look of the team as it has a better balance between run production and run prevention.
  7. I wish Cabrera well with the White Sox. I applaud him for the year he had following the bad year he had in 2013. I still say the Jays got it right in going the way they did. The only thing that's a bit questionable so far is trading Lind for Estrada, but it may very well be that Estrada was the best offer they got.
  8. Would someone please compare Estrada and Happ over the last 3 years? I be no good at these things.
  9. And teams trade prospects all the time. I wouldn't have traded D'Arnaud plus Syndergaard + a low minors prospect for Dickey, but the Jays did it. I guess I just don't see the difference in trading a draft pick or a prospect.
  10. How's it different than trading 1 or 3 prospects for a player though? I guess you're saying teams should be protected from their own stupidity.
  11. Good to see the Jays read the market well on this one.
  12. Like.....
  13. Sounds like Rogers is making a mess of this situation. Why even wait another year? Just do it!
  14. I agree, but he could end up as high as AA if he pitches well. Regardless, 2 of 3 ain't bad.
  15. Because it's guaranteed that the Jays will easily sign a better SS for cheaper and use the savings to sign a good 2B.
  16. Remember, Osuna, Castro and possibly Hoffman could move quickly and end up in the MLB bullpen in the 2nd half ala Sanchez this past season.
  17. I'm pretty certain the Jays have made their 2B move in acquiring Travis so this could be a good signing as he could end up as the back up 2b/ss.
  18. Not many thought Happ would fetch Saunders either. I actually think AA had that deal set up since awhile back. I hope the same applies to Navarro and AA knows he could deal him when he wants.
  19. I probably jinxed it, but couldn't help speculating on such a possibility.
  20. Also, let's hope the D-Backs trade Montero to the Cubs and turn around and trade something decent to the Jays for Navarro. I'd certainly prefer that it's the D-Backs that are looking for a catcher rather than the Cubs as it increases the chances of Navarro being traded and even fetching something decent.
  21. Imagine if the Mariners got Trumbo + Cabrera after signing Cruz!!!
  22. I always thought the inactivity over the past year or so was a bit odd. I thought the new Rogers boss had hired a consultant to evaluate the franchise and had put a stop to major moves till he had finished the review. Who knows and I need to sleep.
  23. Maybe Beeston is being forced to leave because he promised the payroll would be higher in 2015...it's not his money damn it! You would think AA would have endeared himself to ownership by cutting the payroll without hurting the team. Just some goofy thoughts.
  24. Williams' quote is sort of interesting in that he suggests this is nothing new. Kind of weird though since Beeston AND Lawrence were supposedly involved in pursuing Martin.
  25. Ned Colleti??? No need to post that puking pic, we all get the point.
