  1. Nothing in that system is even interesting in the context of a Donaldson trade. At least New York has upside guys like Florial and Sheffield.
  2. He beat you weeks ago.
  3. Was going to post something like this. Them asking for Vlad just has to mean they like Sierra and Alcantara more than Toronto’s non-Vlad prospects. They clearly like those two pieces, and Alcantara especially, more than the industry. They had tunnel vision for pitching, apparently (not sure why) - is it really a stretch to say they weren’t enamoured with Pearson, Zeuch, and SRF? Asking for Vlad AND Bichette, in the same deal, is where things get silly, if indeed they did that.
  4. It’s weird to me that the AAV for non-elite relievers is up to $7-9M.
  5. I’m sure a lot of teams are wondering what Miami sees in Alcantara and Sierra.
  6. That looks about like what I’d expect a Yelich trade to look like, along with maybe eating a chunk of Chen’s deal. IMO it’s fair for both clubs. Nailed it!
  7. So I guess Ozuna would have cost us Vlad.
  8. Jays were interested in Kinsler and are interested in Billy Hamilton and Adam Duvall.
  9. JD is probably about as valuable as Ozuna, and I’d be livid with this return.
  10. I don’t understand how this happens, even if they wanted a quick deal. His salary isn’t prohibitive, so there should have been at least half a dozen teams in on him. The market should have developed on it’s own - there’s no way Sierra, Alcantara and trash was the top offer. I guess the easiest explanation is that the FO has no idea what it’s doing.
  11. Yeah. I thought Miami would get $50M+ in value for him, and they got half that.
  12. Joe Smith to Houston
  13. Welp, those last two pieces suck. Overall return is very bad.
  14. Great, thanks Todd!
  15. Magneuris Sierra in the deal too. That makes things look a bit better.

Saw that. It would be the best thing that could possibly happen. Everything needs to be gutted, from the owner down through the front office.

Kyle Turris on is exit from Ottawa: "It's tough because I think management did want to sign me, but I think that the owner didn't. And that was his decision." I've suspected all along that no effort was even made to keep Turris. This team will remain a dumpster fire until Melnyk sells it.
  18. Someone link this to Stroman on twitter and point out that he actually has a tiny little heart. The meltdown will last for days.
  19. I was just assuming Reyes was going to be involved. Alcantara being the centerpiece is an egregious return. This reminds me of the Simmons trade.
  20. They shouldn't need leverage to move someone like Ozuna for an appropriate return. 10+ teams should have been involved in this and bidding against each other. If the return ends up Alcantara and garbage, that's their FO not properly valuing assets.
  21. Apparently Alcantara is the centerpiece. The Marlins have completely botched this trade.
  22. Vlad should be the only guy in the system that people would be inclined to hold back in talks for Yelich. Yelich is a 4-5 win player signed for less than 60M over the next 5 years. I like Bichette, but the odds of him ever providing that kind of value are not high. I don't think anybody would regret moving him for Yelich.
  23. The Jays didn't offer Vlad, and didn't get Ozuna. Which was the point I was making when I said he'd probably cost them Vlad. Ozuna should be worth something like $55M in value. The two teams were not a good match.
  24. Yelich will make $58.3M over the next 5 years, his age-26 to 30 seasons. Fangraphs contract tool has him worth something like $190M over the 5 years. I don't think he'd get that, but he'd definitely get $150M over 5 years. I think you can conservatively say he's worth at least $100M in trade value. Miami would be completely justified in demanding that Toronto take on Chen's remaining $52M, and send Bo Bichette +.
  25. Yup. Pham/Fowler/Ozuna in the OF, Carpenter at 1B. And still Martinez/Piscotty/Grichuk/Bader with nowhere to play. At least one of these guys will be going to Miami though.
