  1. Yup. If the Jose Reyes incident had happened in Canada, there's a decent chance he's still not back playing MLB baseball. IIRC there was pretty sufficient evidence that he assaulted her.
  2. Yeah, that's the one recent example that comes to mind. If Osuna's charges get dropped, he's probably looking at something like that. If the charges don't get dropped and he's convicted, it could be a Ray Rice/Slava Voynov situation. I don't think we can assume he'll be back in a couple months while he has assault charges hanging over his head.
  3. It depends on what he did. When was the last time an MLB player was arrested and charged with assault? Most of these are allegations that never reach this point. It happened to Slava Voynov in the NHL in 2014 and he hasn’t played since.
  4. And Chapman was neither arrested, nor charged. This could jeopardize his career.
  5. The fact that he’s been arrested already bodes poorly.

Rooting for Ovechkin to win his Cup this year. Really happy to see them beat Pittsburgh.
  7. Thanks. Sometimes us casuals have a hard time understanding things.
  8. I’m pretty sure the PA would strike before allowing players to spend time on the 25-man without accruing service time.
  9. His wRC+ is going to be like 230 after 120 PA.
  10. Gave Jim edit access to the sheet. Anyone else? Also, I processed the Cruz trade and realized Boxy now has a loaded farm and 4 top-10 picks.
  11. I don't think anyone thinks he should go to the pen now. It's certainly on the table if he continues on this trajectory though.
  12. That is a thick ass.
  13. It's all moot anyway. If Vlad is great, there's no way the org lets him walk at 26 years old
  14. I'm very interested in knowing if the new balls are the reason why he's throwing 6.5% curveballs this year.
  15. Who are these people he's talking about that don't think it's easier to pitch in the league where pitchers hit?
  16. Congratulations! How's your blood pressure?
  17. It might matter in the standings though. If the team is out of it in September, using a month of service time then and not in April-May might be transferring a win from 2019 to 2018. We've seen guys like Harper, Machado, Acuna, and Bellinger hit the ground running - Vlad could very well be an impact player of that caliber immediately, and having that out of the lineup for an extra month of 2019 could hurt.
  18. It's more just an embarrassing look for the team. In this situation he's called up for September even though the team his committed to pushing his service time back, and then mashes in September. The team then holds him down in April and most of May in 2019. This is more egregious service time manipulation than either Bryant or Acuna faced, because not only has he displayed an ability to hit MLB pitching, but they're holding him back a month longer than usual in 2019. IF they're committed to pushing his service time back by a year, I don't think they can justify a September call up. It has to be mid-April 2019 for his debut.
  19. L54's team is pretty good.
  20. Yeah, it really can't happen now because there's nobody behind him, but it might be best for both him and the team if he were removed from the rotation eventually. He's become a 2-pitch pitcher, and he can't command either of those pitches. He might be lights out coming out of the pen as a fastball/change guy throwing upper 90s for an inning at a time. His 15 starts since 2016 have been awful. If it continues to be more of the same, he's not a starter.
  21. Aaron Sanchez - bullpen arm?
  22. https://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/may-starting-pitcher-rankings-update/ Pitcher rankings update for May dropped today. Alex Cobb is unranked with a "DO NOT START" category. Same group as Chris Tillman and Phil Hughes.
  23. I get it. But in that case, why the f*** would you call him up in September?
  24. I can't for the life of me understand the 'call him up in September' crowd. If he succeeds, which he probably would, because he's awesome, the team is left with two choices to start 2019: 1) He makes the team to start 2019. The team loses the year of service time they ostensibly tried to gain by letting him annihilate the upper minors for almost all of 2018 while the team was in a wild card battle and rostering Kendrys Morales. 2) They leave him down until late May to gain the service time. They rightfully get crucified by the fans and media for it. If Vlad keeps mashing I'll be legit pissed if he's held down all year and called up in September.
  25. I don't think there was really reason to believe that 2017 Torres was an upgrade on Castro, Gregorius, or Headley/Frazier.
