It's like this: I've watched Amir Garrett this year, and I've watched Kevin Quackenbush this year, and using Garrett in a lesser role than Quackenbush is insane. Garrett has looked amazing since the start of spring. He's back to throwing 95, and he's commanding the fastball most of the time, and the slider enough of the time.

Actually, it might help their pitching staff. Here's a list of Reds relievers who have entered games in higher leverage situations than Amir Garrett, who has been mowing everyone down since the start of spring training: Kevin Quackenbush Austin Brice Zack Weiss Jared Hughes Wandy Peralta Raisel Iglesias (OK this makes sense)

I think both have a lot of upside. Hopefully one reaches it. I’ll be more encouraged about Hernandez if he ends up displaying plus corner defense, because the K/BB skills make me apprehensive.

The Reds are an embarrassment. They had a nice supporting core of position players behind an MVP caliber player in Votto (Barnhart/Suarez/Hamilton/Winker/Duvall/Senzel soon). Instead of supplementing it with actual pitching, they run the same cast of gas cans out there yet again to torpedo their season. They have like 5 arms who actually belong on an MLB staff.

They have similar offensive profiles, but Grichuk has established himself as a clear plus defender at least. I trust Grichuk as a cromulent short term starter even if it's a 95 wRC+ bat. I don't have that same faith in Hernandez.

You should probably seek some form of counseling for gambling addiction. Almost nobody who disagrees with you on a baseball forum is going to bet 10k on in. It comes off as insane that you do this every time.

There's nothing wrong with the defense. It's probably average or a bit below.

I look at him and see Hunter Renfroe and Nick Williams. I wish he were a plus defender, because he'll have to mash to be a good regular.

I'm so happy that Carson Fulmer still sucks. I was a bit worried I gave up too soon when he looked great against Toronto in his first start.
