  1. It might matter in the standings though. If the team is out of it in September, using a month of service time then and not in April-May might be transferring a win from 2019 to 2018. We've seen guys like Harper, Machado, Acuna, and Bellinger hit the ground running - Vlad could very well be an impact player of that caliber immediately, and having that out of the lineup for an extra month of 2019 could hurt.
  2. It's more just an embarrassing look for the team. In this situation he's called up for September even though the team his committed to pushing his service time back, and then mashes in September. The team then holds him down in April and most of May in 2019. This is more egregious service time manipulation than either Bryant or Acuna faced, because not only has he displayed an ability to hit MLB pitching, but they're holding him back a month longer than usual in 2019. IF they're committed to pushing his service time back by a year, I don't think they can justify a September call up. It has to be mid-April 2019 for his debut.
  3. L54's team is pretty good.
  4. Yeah, it really can't happen now because there's nobody behind him, but it might be best for both him and the team if he were removed from the rotation eventually. He's become a 2-pitch pitcher, and he can't command either of those pitches. He might be lights out coming out of the pen as a fastball/change guy throwing upper 90s for an inning at a time. His 15 starts since 2016 have been awful. If it continues to be more of the same, he's not a starter.
  5. Aaron Sanchez - bullpen arm?
  6. https://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/may-starting-pitcher-rankings-update/ Pitcher rankings update for May dropped today. Alex Cobb is unranked with a "DO NOT START" category. Same group as Chris Tillman and Phil Hughes.
  7. I get it. But in that case, why the f*** would you call him up in September?
  8. I can't for the life of me understand the 'call him up in September' crowd. If he succeeds, which he probably would, because he's awesome, the team is left with two choices to start 2019: 1) He makes the team to start 2019. The team loses the year of service time they ostensibly tried to gain by letting him annihilate the upper minors for almost all of 2018 while the team was in a wild card battle and rostering Kendrys Morales. 2) They leave him down until late May to gain the service time. They rightfully get crucified by the fans and media for it. If Vlad keeps mashing I'll be legit pissed if he's held down all year and called up in September.
  9. I don't think there was really reason to believe that 2017 Torres was an upgrade on Castro, Gregorius, or Headley/Frazier.
  10. Also, spending a few months playing 3B a couple days a week instead of 5 days a week will be catastrophic for his long term development.
  11. I’ll process after work tomorrow. If anybody want spreadsheet edit access, PM me your email. We need more people processing trades.
  12. Neither of you guys noticed that a trade from August wasn’t processed on the sheet? Ian Anderson and 6th MiLB
  13. connorp was easy to beat
  14. Processed the spreadsheet parts.
  15. Mike Trout is having an insane year.
  16. It's probably time for Cinci to pull the plug on Finnegan is a starter.
  17. Damn, Soto struck out today. But he also went 3-4 with a homer, so I guess it wasn't all bad.
  18. If Vlad is still mashing in June, I think the case to bring him up is stronger than the case for bringing Bryant up in 2014: the Cubs were nowhere near a playoff spot, and Bryant wasn't going to help. Letting Vlad wRC+ 200 for over a year in the upper minors while the team battles for a playoff spot would be something else entirely. At that point, his age-19 season might actually be pretty f***ing valuable.
  19. If he gets called up in September, the team has to leave him down most of the way through May next year to push his free agency back a year. That will create a massive issue if he mashes in September, and then through spring next year. I don't see any reason at all to leave him down until September, and then call him up then. If they're f***ing around with service time, he stays down all year and comes up April 20th, 2019, or whatever the date is.
  20. Molina needed emergency surgery and will miss at least a month to recover after this: Goodnight, sweet prince.
  21. Does that push his 2019 arrival back to mid-May?
  22. Josh Donaldson isn't bigger than the team, hasn't been healthy since 2015, and is still not throwing well. If he's told he's DHing a couple times a week, he'll DH a couple of times a week.
  23. If he's still crushing AA at the end of the month, I don't understand the hesitation. The bat might be ready to produce big time at the MLB level. 4 months of everyday PT with 2-3 starts a week at 3B won't be worse for his development than spending the time in a league he's too good for, and it comes with the added benefit of possibly adding wins to the MLB club. If he gets called up this season, he hits free agency before the 2025 season, at age 26. Are they really going to wait until mid-April 2019? If they do that, he hits free agency before 2026, at at 27. They're going let him annihilate the upper minors for over a year, just to get control of his age 26 season instead of his age-19 season, when he might actually make the difference between playoffs or no playoffs in his age-19 season? I'm sorry, but that's a mickey mouse way to run a team - especially given that this team doesn't have to operate that way. If he's Miguel Cabrera, are they going to let him walk via free agency in his mid 20s?
  24. He should be here. The team is over 0.500 in May, and the goal should be winning as many games as possible. Vlad almost certainly makes the team better. They’re not the f***ing Rays or Pirates - pay him whatever he’s worth in 6 years.
  25. Connor, are you aware that there are DL slots in this league, or that you’re rostering Matt Harvey?
