  1. I would definitely listen to this.
  2. Is there another starter in baseball that thrives by getting tons of whiffs on a 92 mph fastball he throws 90% of the time? It's a weird skill set.

I'm having a hard time understanding how much of this success is just the NHL having a pretty flat level of talent. It's hard to see an expansion team assembling an analytics infrastructure that's immediately the class of the league. Other teams have relied on possession numbers to construct their teams and not enjoyed this much success.

Has anyone read any articles on the process that made the Golden Knights so good? Did they add a bunch of analytics darlings that finally got a chance? Is the coaching staff employing tactics that haven't really been used before? I haven't read much of anything interesting about how they got an edge on the rest of the league.
  5. No rebuilders interested in Banda?
  6. I think Walker is especially hurt by the fact that it was Colorado. Dumb voters aren't giving him enough credit for his offense because they're over-correcting for Coors.
  7. He really deserves to be in. I hope they get it right eventually.
  8. Bartolo Colon has thrown 50 innings with a 2.86 ERA and 3.81 xFIP. This is my favourite development of the season.
  9. Pretty tall order. Larry Walker had 69 fWAR in his career, Fergie Jenkins had 80, and Votto is at 54 and still going strong. That's pretty tough territory for a player who will have no defensive value and negative baserunning value.
  10. Don't you live in LA or Denver or something?
  11. I think that's a fair assessment.
  12. Anybody want Anthony Banda for a draft pick?
  13. He was added to waivers by yahoo because they just added him to their database.
  14. But even if he doesn't care about Canadian baseball: why does it matter? He's just stating how he feels, right? You either care about something or you don't. That's not a decision you make. I still don't see why anyone would take issue with him being honest and not giving a canned response.
  15. Unbelievable
  16. He didn't attack Canadian baseball. The point he's making is that he sees himself as a baseball player, not a Canadian baseball player. He doesn't care if he plays for the Blue Jays, and he doesn't care extra about Paxton's no-hitter because Paxton is Canadian. I don't understand why anyone paying attention would prefer canned responses to actual honesty. That doesn't make sense to me at all. Would it have made you feel good inside if he lied about enjoying Paxton's no-hitter a little more than usual because Paxton is Canadian? Also, I have no idea who Paul Joseph Watson is.
  17. Giving teams $10s of millions in incentives for getting detectable banned substances into a sunk cost’s body seems like a bad idea.
  18. I wonder if all the butthurt morons are happy now that he’s apologized for telling the truth instead of giving the standard athlete ******** response.
  19. Votto signed his extension in April of 2012. They won 97 games that year, then 90 in 2013. At the time he signed a $225M contract to stay with one of the best teams in baseball.
  20. I don't think I've processed anything.
  21. Votto is just the best
  22. It would be refreshing to see a player own it for once.
