  1. That probably takes Suzuki off the board too as far as trades go. Atkins really needs to land one of the FA OFs.
  2. This is a no-brainer. Why is still unsigned? Atkins must still be brainstorming ways for this to become a possibility.
  3. Rideau street in front of the Rideau Centre has always been bad. But now the entire market is completely overrun with people passed out/shooting up. There were always a small amount, but it's become much worse over the last half decade or so.
  4. The eventual Henderson trade is going to hit like crack.
  5. Imagine being Rutschman or Henderson and your team's opening day rotation has Dean Kremer, Albert Suarez, and a 35-year old shitballer who couldn't strike people out in Japan. And not even because a bunch of injuries hit in spring - this was the actual offseason plan.
  6. How does 6.4 K/9 in Japan translate to America?
  7. Even Ontario's greatest city (Ottawa) is completely overrun. It's absurd.
  8. I clicked through to their website, and I still have no idea how this is supposed to work. From what I can tell: - He's sold them 3% of his future earnings. - I don't know what they paid him for it. But they're trying to sell 300,000 "shares" at $12.00 a piece. So $3.6M. Presumably he gets most of that. - If Cleveland picks up his two options he'll make $30.5M through 2028. 3% of that is 915K. He'll be 30 in his age-28 season. - He'd need to make 89.5M at 31+ for Finlete "investors" to break even on the 3.6M they've raised. But it's not at all clear how shareholders would get paid, because they don't actually have any details on their site. My guess is Clase walks away with a couple million, Finlete scams a few hundred K from idiots, and everyone else loses money.
  9. This seems incredibly stupid https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/12/finlete-offers-fans-the-opportunity-to-acquire-a-piece-of-emmanuel-clases-mlb-salary-sponsored.html
  10. The problem with Sanchez is that he gets eaten alive by LHP. Career 42 wRC+ and 35% K-rate. This team could probably use a platoon corner OF, but I wouldn't give Miami much for him.
  11. Just need this to happen and Burnes to sign in SF and Atkins will be prevented from crippling the next regime for half a decade
  12. He made absolutely no sense for the Cubs, though I guess Morel sucks so they didn’t give up much for him. He’ll do well in Houston.
  13. I like that for Milwaukee. Cortes is a very solid SP3 projected to make less than 8M in arb and Durbin is an interesting MLB-ready depth piece who should contribute to Milwaukee this year.
  14. Apparently it’s not as insignificant as it sounds. Yankee Stadium suites go for 1M+ a year, and they’d be taxed on it via the CBT. So could be like a 30M+ concession from the team over the life of the contract.
  15. It's f***ing absurd. Like yeah, I see how Ohtani is a unique investment. And even Soto is a mid-prime future inner circle HoFer, so I could see him being a special case too. But we don't need Rogers dictating that payroll can only go up by 20M if it's spent specifically on Anthony Santander. At that point you don't even trust the FO, so just fire them.
  16. Full 40-man
  17. I don't even know how a situation that absurd is allowed to continue. The Rockies don't do anything. They keep the same players year after year, and just continue to lose with them. It's very strange.
  18. White Sox
  19. Seems pretty light
  20. Kenny KEn: White Sox acquiring Garrett Crochet from Red Sox for catcher Kyle Teel, outfielder Braden Montgomery, infielder Chase Meidroth and right-hander Wikelman Gonzalez
  21. Looks like Teel is the big piece for Crochet
  22. So we have 13M to spend. Or maybe 33M, but only if they land Santander, Bregman, Burnes, or (maybe) Teo. Seems like someone at Rogers is being dumb. What if they're at 241M and see an opportunity to improve the team by adding two 10M players on short-term deals? That's a no because those players aren't Santander/Bregman/Burnes?
  23. I don't want Santander, but teams don't usually pay sticker price for 2B defense WAR. I could see preferring Santander + Horwitz to Gimenez.
  24. Seems like that ship has probably sailed. If they sign Burnes or Pivetta they're up over 251M in luxury tax hit. Would they go into the 260s?
  25. Steamer600 Horwitz - 2.2 fWAR Gimenez - 3.0 fWAR I know Gimenez has that one monster season, and Toronto is probably projecting Gimenez to be a bit better than that, but a) I don't trust Toronto's evaluation of hitters, and We're talking about a $93M commitment for Gimenez while Horwitz will make the minimum for two more years. I really don't like this deal. We could have had: Horwitz Josh Rojas (~4M) Kirby Yates/David Robertson/some other good FA reliever (12M) $77M but instead we have Andres Gimenez
