  1. The Yankees kind of suck. Running a rotation of Fried, Rodon, Stroman, Warren, and.... Carrasco? Bullpen is super thin after Williams and Weaver. No 3B. 40-year old Paul Goldscmidt at 1B. Paper thin bench. Not clear that Dominguez is any good and there's no depth after him in the OF.
  2. That bullpen is going to have a bad time
  3. Stanton is completely cooked
  4. Feels like almost a certainty that Cole gets TJS this time
  5. Grayson Rodriguez will start the year on the IL with an elbow injury and Andrew Kittredge will be out multiple months. Orioles hater crew is eating well tonight. Baltimore's rotation to open the season will be Eflin, Morton, Kremer, Sugano, and Albert Suarez, which is f***ing hilarious.
  6. Swanson getting an MRI on his elbow
  7. Minor league deal for Jose Iglesias, coming of a 2.5 WAR season
  8. Love these articles. He have been a hot topic that spring because I have pretty clear memories of Dana Eveland even though he only started 9 games for the team
  9. I thought that too, but it's actually hard to rember other teams who have had 3 top-15 ish position player prospects at the same time.
  10. I'm not sure there are really fans of the front office. I think the closest you'll find is people who think Shapiro is good at what he's supposed to and are ambivalent about Ross Atkins. But yeah - I mostly agree with your last paragraph. It feels like this is coming to a head one way or another. The team probably isn't good enough to make the playoffs so he probably gets fired. On the off chance the team wins 90+ and goes on a bit of a run, maybe he gets to stick around, but if that happens a bunch of the things he did have probably worked out and the team would have won 89+ for the 4th time in 5 years, so maybe it wouldn't actually be the end of the world.
  11. This season is basically no-lose for the people who really want Atkins gone. Either the team makes the playoffs of he's fired. I'm betting on fired.
  12. It's happened twice now that Bobby starts saying something and then just stops mid-sentence, and doesn't finish even if given time by his partner. And for some reason his partner refers to him as Bobby V. Not Bobby - Bobby V. Every time he addresses him.
  13. Bobby Valentine on colour commentary for the Angels is the worst thing I've ever experienced
  14. What an odd thing to post
  15. Damn, scoreless inning for Stroman in his spring debut. I really want to see the fireworks of him being used in middle relief.
  16. Regarding the placement of the articles, I don't see the issue as long as the articles are clearly identified in the thread title (which they are). There are currently 243 replies to Tuesday's Vlad article, when there might not have even been 10 if it wasn't added to the forum.
  17. I really hate the argument that if they were willing to offer Soto 700M then why not Vlad 500M (or whatever). There are a number of reasons why an organization might be willing to pay huge for Soto but not commit 500M (or even 400M) to Vlad. To be outraged over this one has to find it implausible that that the team sees a lot of daylight between the projections for both players going forward. In reality, sound projections might actually see like 20+ WAR separating them over the life of the contract.
  18. If this is true, it's true regardless of what happens with Vlad and Bo, and the thing that killed them was an inability to develop MLB talent. For a well-run organization, 1 or 2 players leaving via FA wouldn't dictate that a rebuild is in order.
  19. Soto (ZiPS + Steamer) projects for 6.5 fWAR next year. Vlad is at 4.8. These are their respective career stats: # Name Team G PA HR R RBI SB BB% K% ISO BABIP AVG OBP SLG wOBA xwOBA wRC+ BsR Off Def WAR 1 Juan Soto 3 Tms 936 4088 201 655 592 57 18.8% 17.0% .248 .305 .285 .421 .532 .404 158 -9.8 280.7 -55.0 36.3 2 Vladimir Guerrero Jr. TOR 819 3540 160 475 507 20 9.9% 15.6% .213 .304 .288 .363 .500 .367 137 -14.8 139.8 -91.5 17.0
  20. The biggest failure here isn’t not signing him - it’s going into the season with him unsigned. If Houston can trade Tucker and SD can trade Soto they could have traded Vlad, but they won’t because Atkins is too passive for the job.
  21. So today is the deadline for getting a deal done before free agency?
  22. I don't understand why people think Robert would be cheap. He's the kind of high-variance talent that contending teams drool over, and he's controllable for 3 more seasons on very reasonable team options. There would be no shortage of interested teams and Toronto's farm system is ass.
  23. Team feels incomplete. Need either Bregman or a couple of relief upgrades.
  24. Fuuuuuuuuuuck
