Not sure McClanahan is more of an injury risk than Fried right now, as long as you have a month or two to wait on him this season. I'd take him and Schultz over Fried.
I'm having a hard time understanding why people want to keep Vlad when it's basically universally accepted that the team will be starting a rebuild in 2026. Probably looking at 2029 to start contending again if things go well. Vlad will be 30 and we'll be looking at the last 10 years of the deal, and likely starting the albatross stage of his contract.
I think the idea is that a non-playoff team signs him, gives him 20 starts at DH or OF to allow him to not be subject to pitcher limitations for the rest of 2025 and 2026, and then trades him to a contender.
The problem is that Lorenzon wouldn’t make most teams’ playoff roster
I kind of just want the team to sign Alonso given the apparently depressed 1B market. Mets and Yankees will be out. Dodgers will be out.
Vlad
2x a week at 3rd
3x a week at 1B
2x a week at DH
Alonso
4x a week at 1B
3x a week at DH
If I'm going to watch a 78-win team, give me some monster Polar Bear dingers
Yes, but Rogers isn’t going to allow it. When they miss the playoffs Shapiro will be allowed to walk away gracefully with his contract expiring. Atkins will be fired. And the next guys up will retool.
I’m just hoping they don’t inherit a 15/500 Vlad contract.
Decided to just remove everything so that this thread can be kept to discussion about potential writers. There are a bunch of other threads for the usual bickering.
