  1. I don’t think so, because I don’t think Atkins can survive that and Shapiro probably can’t either
  2. Yeah. Flaherty is the guy who looks like he might fall through the cracks. There might be a team or two who don't see much daylight between him and Fried, and if that team is willing to do something like 5/120, they'll probably land him. We're at the point in free agency where there might be more players left than teams willing to spend 20M per year on them. Flaherty needs a team that A) thinks he can repeat his 2024 is motivated to add to the top of the rotation, and C) has money to spend. If Toronto is the only team in that situation, there's no reason why they can't sign him. Maybe Toronto thinks he sucks though.
  3. I'd take the Brewers off that list and add the Angels. I think the Jays, Tigers, and Twins are all together in a similar tier somewhere in the 20-25 range.
  4. I wonder how many players have had their decision impacted by the fact that the GM is Ross Atkins. Imagine trying to work out a deal with this talking Linked-In page. I think we’re at like half a dozen Jays players who have openly shown contempt for him now? Dude is a ****ing loser.
  5. So the remaining rotation options for possible SP2 production are: Flaherty Sign an old **** like Scherzer or Verlander and pray Cease (trade) Castillo (trade) Can probably eliminate the second option because the team blows and the last two options because there’s so little to trade. Brazing myself for a Jose Quintana signing
  6. I think there are a few other teams on that list. Rogers’ willingness to spend to the tax is a huge asset.
  7. I guess it makes sense. Burnes lives in Arizona. The real hilarity is the Orioles. They’re actually wasting another year of their contention window this year.
  8. I see a panic Jurickson Profar overpayment coming. We'll all want him gone by the end of May.
  9. 23M was deferred too. So its actually less than a 66M NPV.
  10. So we're down to four actual impact bats left? Bregman, Alonso, Santander, Profar?
  11. I wonder if Ross got to the point where he found a way for this to become a possibility, or if he didn't even get that far.
  12. Wat
  13. Not sure McClanahan is more of an injury risk than Fried right now, as long as you have a month or two to wait on him this season. I'd take him and Schultz over Fried.
  14. I'm having a hard time understanding why people want to keep Vlad when it's basically universally accepted that the team will be starting a rebuild in 2026. Probably looking at 2029 to start contending again if things go well. Vlad will be 30 and we'll be looking at the last 10 years of the deal, and likely starting the albatross stage of his contract.
  15. If I can't smoke and swear I'm f****d
  16. Die Hard, Home Alone, and Christmas Vacation are the three greatest Christmas movies of all time
  17. Merry Christmas Spanky!
  18. Guys, nobody wants to read a fantasy baseball argument in the Around Baseball thread Edit: Moved to LoD thread
  19. Quoting for posterity
  20. I think the idea is that a non-playoff team signs him, gives him 20 starts at DH or OF to allow him to not be subject to pitcher limitations for the rest of 2025 and 2026, and then trades him to a contender. The problem is that Lorenzon wouldn’t make most teams’ playoff roster
  21. I kind of just want the team to sign Alonso given the apparently depressed 1B market. Mets and Yankees will be out. Dodgers will be out. Vlad 2x a week at 3rd 3x a week at 1B 2x a week at DH Alonso 4x a week at 1B 3x a week at DH If I'm going to watch a 78-win team, give me some monster Polar Bear dingers
  22. Braves have been weirdly quiet. They have real needs: corner OF, SS, mid-rotation starter, backend bullpen, and almost an entire bench.
  23. You guys have been getting along for like two months. Can we just go back to that plz?
