  1. Well, Grandal might be a top two catcher in baseball and neither of McGuire or Maile are that.
  2. What if you get him for like 3/40 or something?
  3. https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-locked-pitching-bats-also-offer-path-improvement/ Meh, it's something to talk about.
  4. Yeah, I thought so too. IIRC he signed last offseason for a 2M guarantee then maxed out another 8M of IP incentives. Thought he'd get around 8 guaranteed this year, especially after holding up for like 3 great starts in the playoffs.
  5. Waino back to St. Louis for another year. 5M guaranteed and 5M in incentives. I wonder if they’re just IP incentives.
  6. A bit surprised O’Day got a guaranteed 2.25M at 37 coming off a lost season

  8. Well I haven’t seen anyone suggest that they want Tellez off the 40-man while he still has an option year remaining, so I assumed he was suggesting he should be penciled in for an MLB job.
  9. I disagree with this. You can store intriguing players in AAA, or on the MLB bench if they’ve demonstrated MLB ability. Bautista and Encarnación were legit 25-man contributors before becoming stars. If you like Rowdy Tellez and think there’s more there? Bring him back for 560k or whatever and option him to AAA. If he rakes there, PAs will open up for him on the MLB team. But you shouldn’t go into an offseason penciling him in as your everyday D.H. and ignore the options that currently project better.
  10. Hard to tell. Still looks like a phat ass, but maybe a bit less so?
  11. Probably not much of anything.
  12. Need to see pics from behind to gauge whether he's lost weight.
  13. Baseball is not hockey.
  14. Man I love AJ Burnett. That FA signing worked out so well.
  15. I'd much rather take a gamble on Ryu than sign a workhorse type like Roark or Porcello. I get that Ryu is objectively better and will cost more, but the team has payroll space, and he's the kind of high variance SP that could help the team contend for a WC spot if a lot of the young bats push.
  16. Yeah. The depth is very good right now. A team with designs on winning would have something like: 3. Shoemaker 4. Anderson 5. Thornton BP - Font BP - Gaviglio AAA - Borucki AAA - Waguespack AAA - Kay AAA - Zeuch AAA - Merryweather AAA - Pearson AAA - SRF (probably in the pen full time) The team has enough depth right now to cut Pannone, commit to SRF and Hector Perez in the pen, and still have a full five-man rotation in AAA with legit MLB upside in 2020. If the team finds a way to add two starters better than any starter they currently have, the rotation would actually be talented and very robust.
  17. I thought Tepera might be tendered and didn’t want him to be.
  18. Came in here to post about the Indians outrighting him. Very intriguing target.
  19. Is Fangraphs getting kickbacks for turning their site into a job board? Three job notices posted today alone.
  20. So is fielding a rotation of 4th and 5th starters. I have no problem with this trade, but I'll be pretty pissed if the current plan is for Anderson, Borucki, Thornton, and Shoemaker to be in the rotation come April. This move doesn't tell us anything about the plan for the offseason.
  21. Yeah. Chase Anderson is a nice piece of he's your 4th or 5th starter. But we have four of those guys now (him and Shoemaker, Borucki, and Thornton). They should still add two arms that are clearly better than anything currently in the fold.
  22. Yeah, Spanberger is nothing. I don't think anyone would be upset about signing Anderson for 1/8.5 with a team option for 2021. Boring, but solid move.
  23. Feels like the Marco Estrada situation all over again. FIP-beating flyball changeup specialist from Milwaukee. 8.5M team option this year, and a 9.5M team option in 2021 with a 500k buyout. I wouldn't give much up for the contract, but it's not a bad addition.
