You're being obtuse. For 5 months of the season owners replace injured players with guys from the waiver wire, because it's very, very difficult to win when you're punting a bunch of counting stats by not using a full roster. Then the game changes entirely in September and injuries hurt teams twice as much because instead of replacing production with lesser production, they're replacing it with literally nothing.

He could cut all of those guys and still be working with a 21-man roster, which puts him at a massive disadvantage. The problem is that Giolito, Price, Baez, and Upton are injured and not playing, and should be on the DL. It's stupid.

If the Jays punt 2020, it will confirm that Ross Atkins is a beta loser who should be fired immediately. If he even suggests to Mark Shapiro that 2020 will be another non-competitive season, Shapiro should give him an atomic wedgie and send him packing.
