Just hoping he misses payroll at some point this season. Bettman won't stand for that.
  2. That's generally always the case though. I'm guessing the Red Sox were the top bidders on Price/Eovaldi/JDM etc... The Astros for Brantley. The Yankees for Chapman. Top players tend to join top teams, but they're not generally leaving money on the table to do it. Maybe Cole wouldn't even entertain a 7/220 offer from Toronto, but I suspect they'd get his attention real quick if they started floating ideas like that around.

So Eugene Melnyk is currently being sued for 900k by a casino who says his bank didn't honour a cheque he cut them, and for 700k by whoever financed his jet because he allegedly hasn't paid his bill. I'm pretty sure he's also still being sued for $1B by John Ruddy and a fighting a 1.55M wrongful dismissal suit from the Sens' former CMO.

Well, this measured response ruins my fun.

Maybe the leafs need a new core then if their group is too soft to step it up when the going gets tough? Or at least bring in some quality veterans to provide a tough presence and protect the soft stars.

Calculate the shots against adjustment for each goalie. The shots against adjustment is equal to (shots against per minute) / (league shots against per minute). For Hasek this is 0.5092 / 0.4494 = 1.133 Calculate marginal goals against for each goalie. Marginal goals against is equal to (1 + (7 / 12)) × (shots against adjustment) × (minutes played) × (league goals against per minute) - (goals against). For Hasek this is (1 + (7 / 12)) × 1.133 × 4220 × 0.0421 - 147 = 171.71 Calculate marginal goals per point. Marginal goals per point reduces to (league goals) / (league points). For the 1997-98 NHL this is 5624 / 2132 = 2.64. Credit Goalie Point Shares to the goalies. Goalie Point Shares are credited using the following formula: (2 / 7) × ((marginal goals against) / (marginal goals per point)). Hasek gets credit for (2 / 7) × (171.71 / 2.64) = 18.6 Goalie Point Shares. Seems like a lotta ******** to me.

If he’s so good why does he always lose in the playoffs?

Yeah, I was wrong. He's a mediocre NHL goalie.

Has Andersen ever even had a top-10 save%? Don't @ me with fancy fake stats about his save% on shots from 3 feet below the right circle or some s***.

I've decided that I will be cheering for the Lightning of Tampa Bay this season.
  11. I want to do violence to you
  12. I don't think anyone expects him to come here, but I'll still be annoyed if I don't hear that Shatkins has offered him like $210 million.
  13. We’ve decided that BORED is going to be moving to Fantrax for the 2020 season. All of you should register for Fantrax ASAP, and I’ll send you an invite when the 2020 Fantrax season opens in early October. Some other notes on the transition: 1. The onus will be on you to add your own players in Fantrax after you’ve joined. Pick up every player that’s currently on your Yahoo roster and that you want to keep through the offseason, as well as all prospects on your MiLB roster on the sheet. Prospects should be added to your farm in Fantrax. 2. There’s going to be a trade freeze effective now, and lasting until a) I’ve transferred 2020 MiLB picks to Fantrax, and you add your roster to Fantrax. I expect that a) will be complete very shortly after the season is open, so you’ll effectively be able to trade as soon as your rosters are up to date. 3. This year’s waiver draft will proceed as it always has, with the picks currently being tracked on the sheet. Waiver picks are the only piece that can’t be tracked in Fantrax, so we’ll vote as a league on how to proceed in 2021 and beyond. 4. No adds will be possible during the offseason, as has always been the case. Owners will be prevented from making adds after owners have added their players. 5. Everything else will proceed as usual, with one exception: there will be same-day adds/drops. In Yahoo, when you add or drop a player it doesn’t take effect until 3am on the following day. In Fantrax, adds/drops will take effect immediately. 6. I want to institute a firm rule change policy, because we’ll have a lot more flexibility now that we’re in Fantrax, and people will want to propose changes as they get familiar with the site. In LoD rule changes are proposed via Fantrax poll and passed with 66% approval. I’m proposing that any changes made to our rules require support from at least 12 owners. We’ll be voting on the new waiver system at some point in the near future, but no changes will be on the table for the 2020 season. Feel free to comment/make suggestions on the implementation I’ve outlined, but the move is happening. The league isn’t going to be run off a spreadsheet anymore.
  14. I don't think we'd have to make any changes. Commishes can force MiLB guys without green flags to the minors, and then they'd stay there until teams called them up. We could choose to have two-way minors, but it wouldn't be necessary.
  15. Yeah. Commissioner - Rosters - Preferences, and you can set the eligibility thresholds at whatever you want.
  16. Yeah. Same as Yahoo, only with everything happening instantaneously instead of taking a day to process. A nice thing about this is that you no longer have to be aware of player activations the night before they're activated (which in some cases isn't possible because the team hasn't announced it). Just log in an hour before games start and make whatever changes you have to. I think same-day adds would also open up hitter streaming on Sundays, which could be interesting. Teams who don't exhaust their adds could replace benched players with guys in the lineup on Sunday if they're chasing counting stats instead of just eating the shallow roster for the day. I like that added piece of strategy. Surprise scratch due to injury? You can replace the player immediately.
  17. What a sensitive little bitch
  18. This isn't an issue in Fantrax. With same-day transactions, you can add a player whose game has already started/ended. The add just process on the following day. Adds only process same day if that player's game hasn't started yet.
  19. The IL thing wouldn't be an issue for us. With free leagues you can set Injured Reserve Enforcement to 0 days. So you could prevent teams from making roster moves as soon as a player on the IR loses their red flag. This works because we'd also have same-day transactions. Player X loses his red flag at noon. The owner has his roster frozen. The owner drops a player at 12:30, activates the injured player, and sets his lineup.
  20. I really can’t think of a reason why we’d need a paid league. With same-day transactions we could just force teams to activate DL’d players the same day they’re activated, because drops are instantaneous. That function is available with free leagues.
  21. I’m not really sure. We have a weekly limit of 5 adds. I think more owners would just max their weekly adds consistently with same day transactions.
  22. The DL thing isn’t an issue with same-day transactions though. I don’t think it would have to be a paid league.
