  1. I'm actually rooting for the big swinging dick of the Dodgers to finally win their WS.
  2. Charlie Morton threw 195 innings last year. Almost 30 more than his previous career high. I'm guessing he's not upset about today's events.
  3. They identify players with limited skills sets and then use them precisely to squeeze every last drop of value out of them. If you're a guy who's just been DFA'd, TB is probably at the top of the list of teams you'd want to be claimed by.
  4. Do these people not wonder how the team with the 3rd-lowest payroll in baseball is now an inning from winning the AL pennant?
  5. Spanky, send me some trade offesrs.
  6. The playoffs have been fantastic. It looked bad early on, but MLB pulled off a very successful season.

The Senators board on HF loves the offseason moves and believes Pierre Dorion is a genius.
  8. This. It's absurd that playoff baseball had become entirely different from regular season baseball, with teams shelving their 4/5 starters and relying on elite relievers for a much higher percentage of their innings. I hope this playoff schedule becomes the norm again.
  9. If anyone's looking for a closer I'd move Melancon. Looking for one of 3 things: - an upgrade on my 2020 5th - a big upgrade in waiver priority - an SP-eligible RP

Lots of skilled players signing cheap 1-year deals. Ottawa instead gives up picks for Gudbranson, Josh Brown, and Austin Watson, none of whom have skill or upside.

It was honestly more fun to watch baseball when the fans knew more than a lot of front offices and we could mock them relentlessly. Now when a team does something we don't understand we pretty much just have to assume it's based on data we're not privy to. I think if/when the NHL improves their processes we'll miss the days of the Pierre Dorions of the world fumbling his way through his job.

I’m pretty sure a team with Ottawa’s cap restrictions should be dumpster diving for goalies. Feels like if Ottawa had a very smart GM their top priority would have been, like, Thomas Greiss.
  13. I feel bad for forgetting to thank Dinger after DDL finals
  14. I will not soon be forgetting this slight.
  15. I literally posted a picture of myself wearing that on my IG last week and nobody called me an attention whore.

Now Ottawa gives up a 5th round pick for known shitbag and pending UFA Eric Gudbranson. Gudbranson is worse than Duclair, and makes about what Duclair was going to make in arb (3M)? Why would they give up a pick for an overpaid player with no upside while letting a skilled player with the same salary walk for nothing? They're going to be straddling the cap floor and Gudbranson has a 3M salary and 4M cap hit. Ottawa is like the Tampa Bay Rays if their front office consisted of Ruben Amaro overseeing a couple of high school interns.

Team is like 25M under the cap floor and was scared of like a 3.5M potential arb award for a guy who scored 23 goals in 66 games in his age-24 season.

I can’t see Ottawa giving Murray a lucrative long-term deal, and I can’t see Murray agreeing to stay in Ottawa long-term for anything short of a lucrative deal, so I suspect he’ll be gone on a year. Not sure why they didn’t just pursue Greiss or Khudobin or whoever to pair with Hogberg. Also, not qualifying Duclair was a Mickey Mouse move by a Mickey Mouse team.
  19. I just put a poll up on the 26th man. I think that's everything that needs to be addressed for now.
  20. Is he even still with the org? He was DFA’d last offseason and I don’t remember him ever signing a contract for 2020.
  21. Aww f***, Iglesias just imploded. It's over.
  22. If the Reds bow out of this having scored 0 runs in 22 innings Votto is going to be endlessly mocked about his "f***ing nightmare" comment.
  23. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/09/trevor-bauer-on-free-agency.html "Again, I think it comes back to I just want a chance to win every year. I want to be in a situation where I feel valued and I have the chance to conduct my career the way I want to conduct it. So, pitch every fourth day, and stuff like that. I want to challenge myself and have a chance to do those things. So if there’s a situation where it presents itself where it is a four-year or five-year deal, and I feel confident that’s going to be a situation that’s good for me, I would consider it. I do think that in order to do the things that I want to do, I think I’m going to have to take on a little more risk than normal in those long-term contracts. …I’m not afraid of the one-year deals. I’m not afraid of the longer deals. It’s just going to be a case-by-case basis, and we’ll see what the situations look like." Some big market team is going to throw $250M on the table and I'm guessing he won't be able to turn it down to go 1 year at a time.
  24. I'll be shocked if Bauer signs a 1-year deal. He's been asked recently if he's still only looking to go a year at a time, and said he's going to consider all options. I'm guessing if the team wants him it will require like 200-250M. Which the should absolutely do.
