  1. Anyone else watching the Reds/Braves game today? Would love to see the Reds come out of the NL.
  2. Yeah. This year they have one good starter, and they treated him with kid gloves. He's also an $80M investment with a glass arm that they managed to keep healthy all season and into the playoffs. I'm guessing the plan going forward isn't to have to stitch innings together from a collection of back-end shitbags, but rather to actually have a rotation of actual good pitchers. Even the Rays don't want to be doing what they're doing. They just can't afford a rotation of starters capable of throwing 180 good innings. They had Morton last year and let him throw a career-high 194 innings. Snell has previously thrown 180 and will get there again if his arm holds up.
  3. I won't name names, but several owners have added red flags this season without anyone noticing. This rule isn't really viable.
  4. Yes, it's not a black and white issue. I actually would have just left Shoemaker in based on the information I had available to me. My biggest issue is with people calling the decision to pull him stupid - there is undoubtedly valid data informing the decision to let Ray start the 4th fresh.
  5. I actually watch entirely too much baseball, rather than too little. And you're about 18 months early on the Rowdy Tellez victory lap.
  6. What if you knew Robbie Ray was a lot more comfortable with nobody on base?
  7. I think one of the biggest developments in baseball recently is managers getting away from this mentality and proactively removing their shitbags before the damage is done instead of after. The difference between seeing a mediocre arm a second or 3rd time and a fresh arm for the first time is really big.
  8. It's not clear at all that Cole and Ray are worse than Shoemaker if all three are fresh. It's definitely not clear that Ray and Cole fresh are worse than Shoemaker second time through.
  9. You guys are second guessing s pitching strategy that resulted in the team getting 8 innings of 3-run ball in a playoff game started by Matt f***ing Shoemaker. The plan worked.
  10. Blake Snell is vastly better pitcher than Matt Shoemaker.
  11. Yeah, we've all seen back end starters get left out to go 5-6 innings because they're the 'hot hand' and then get absolutely bombed eventually. I honestly can't believe that there's this much bellyaching over a strategy to pull someone like Matt Shoemaker before he gives up runs, and not after. The pitching plan worked today. They squeezed 8 innings of 3-run ball out of pitchers that, frankly, aren't very good. They got shut down by elite pitching and great defense.
  12. It really was. People are acting like Shoemaker is more than a depth starter. They got three shutout innings from him, and its completely defensible to go different arms before he gives up runs instead of waiting until the damage is done.
  13. If Shoe gave up runs second time through we'd be having the opposite conversation. I don't think Cole is very good, but its very defensible to prefer him fresh vs. Shoemaker into the 4th. The story here is the offense being shut down by great pitching.
  14. This isn't exactly an elite bullpen. Cole pitching isn't egregious.
  15. When the DDL is dead and gone the epitaph on the z3r0s memorial will read “he did nothing but almost win”. For real though, my post was mostly tongue in cheek and your team was formidable and obviously took me to the limit. I suspect you’ll be back to the finals shortly. As always, there’s a lot of luck required in winning (or losing) a title. This year havok and TCA both had championship caliber teams and got a brutal draw against each in the first round.
  16. WTF, Vladdy finished with a 115 wRC+? He's so close to being a great hitter. Just a few more fly balls.
  17. connorp: I hate your idea so I'm not going to pursue it, but you're free to table a rule change vote if you want to.
  18. Are we keeping previous season's positional eligibility for hitters at 10 games?
  19. I will now make my Champion's address: It has been my distinct pleasure to roll over the DDL field this year. From finishing first in the power rankings by almost 40 points to dispatching my playoff opponents with only 5 category losses, it is clear that The True Cardinals were indisputably the class of the 2020 DDL. All of you can lick my taint, kiss my ring, and try to improve your pitiful teams for 2021. Humbly, BTS
  20. One final item that I forgot yesterday: IL restrictions. Recall that we had a 5-man IL limit in Yahoo and moved to unlimited because of covid. I honestly thought the unlimited IL worked great. Rosters were locked if a IL player lost his red flag and wasn't activated, so hoarding wasn't an issue. I see no reason to go back to a limited IL, but if opinion seems split I'll open it up to a poll.
  21. It's $100 US for a season. Not a lot, but I just don't want the hassle of collecting fees from everyone when we're just using the one premium feature.
  22. I've also added the positional minimums that Jim suggested, so your current rosters look like they'll look for the 2021 season if there's not significant support for doing it differently over the next couple of days. And I've turned weekly add limits off, so you can make as many moves as you want over the offseason.
