Holy f***. At this point there has to be close to 0 chance that a significant SP isn't acquired, either by trade or FA.

There isn't a redundancy as things stand. There will be one if Brantley is signed.

This is so much more satisfying than the 2015/2016 version of the team. They're poised to be a powerhouse, but did it while maintaining an absolutely loaded farm and salary flexibility. -

His take is stupid. Nobody is calling Springer a "savior", and "the final piece of the puzzle" is a meaningless platitude. -

If Toronto does sign Springer, I don't really see where Brantley fits in, unless the team flips Gurriel or Teo for SP or infield help. -
I’ll be surprised it there’s a team option for that cheap. He’ll make double that I’m 2022 if he’s healthy this year.

Honestly, Brad Hand would be a fun signing. Would be borderline superpen status.

If Yates does sign, we have probably 6 bullpen spots all but locked in if everyone is healthy: Yates ® Romano ® Dolis ® Chatwood ® Borucki (L) Merryweather ® Has the makings of a pretty decent pen, and with no financial commitments beyond 2021.

I'm now committed to the idea of signing Yates, and will be very disappointed if it does not happen.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about this. Yates was never right physically last year, but if he's healthy he can be the best reliever in baseball.

I find pitchers like Chatwood (and Ray for that matter) aesthetically unappealing, but there's a very good chance that one of them has an excellent season in 2021.

Yup, Bauer is target #1 for me too. You can also dream on him being a bit more likely to stay healthy/effective because he's so thoughtful and receptive to data on things like spin and biomechanics. -
FYI the Leafs missed the playoffs last year and haven't won a playoff series in 17 years.

One of Toronto's division rivals should claim Spezza and force him into retirement. He's still a useful player in his role.

Rosenthal reporting that the Jays are still interested in Brantley. Would be a great addition: great hitter who can make 3-4 competent starts in LF and DH a couple times a week.
