  1. This seems pretty accurate. Every team in baseball (except maybe the Rockies) employs nerds that would would be aware of the TTO effect, and would be aware of stats indicating that pulling Berrios would be the right move. And yet it's basically impossible to imagine TB, LAD, or ATL pulling a Berrios-caliber starter after 3 innings when he's throwing gas. Toronto probably needs better nerds. Or a better leader of the nerds. Or a better liaison between the nerds and non-nerds.
  2. It's hard to point to more than a handful of transactions that Atkins made that didn't work out. Hard to pinpoint specific reasons why a new GM would be expected to do better. It seems like the team isn't actually at the cutting edge of anything, especially related to development. And not to put too much stock into a single event, but yesterday's Berrios hook seems to be the result of a misuse of analytics. None of the smartest teams in the league pull a starter like Berrios when they did yesterday. Tough situation. They won 89 games even though their franchise payer showed up fat and lazy and didn't contribute much of anything. Things are mostly working. The lesson here isn't what people like Sid Seixeiro seem to want: to hire a Kenny Williams and let the GM and field manager trust their guts.
  3. I prefer option A. Not a fan of the big bump in value SP/RP guys get anyway, though I’ve taken advantage of it often. I also like the current format of pitchers and hitters having equal weight: 7 cats each.
  4. Are we acting on the results of the poll from a few months ago related to our pitching cats/roster spots?
  5. So Molly Knight is just going to pretend nothing happened, and not issue an apology to Bauer? There's a big group of emotional, reactionary, and reckless baseball bloggers that owe him a public apology.
  6. Didn't add it as an option because nobody suggested it when I solicited opinions a few weeks ago, and it didn't otherwise occur to me.
  7. League homepage for our 2024 season on Fantrax
  8. Please vote in the poll about converting two SP slots to P
  9. lol, Dodgers reddit is not convinced that the tweets Bauer showed in that video were real
  10. Just watched this for the first time. Absolutely vile behaviour from his accuser. Bauer is owed an apology by like 80% of baseball bloggers.
  11. Chapman didn't fire a gun at his girlfriend. That would be attempted murder and he would have never played again. He fired a gun in his garage within earshot of his girlfriend.
  12. The odds of Verlander retiring this offseason are 0, unless he blows his shoulder out in the playoffs or something. He's owed 43M next season and has said he wants to pitch into his mid-40s. There's also nothing indicating that Turner isn't playing next year.
  13. Also, Clayton Kershaw is on the block
  14. I've renewed the league and waived all unowned players. Everyone is free to make claims on FAs with MLB games played
  15. Justin Verlander and Justin Turner are on the block. Turner has 1B/2B for 2024.
  16. I advise against admitting to felonies on this message board.
  17. It's wild. A SP will go like 8 shutout innings in a win, and Twitter will be full of degenerates calling him a worthless sack of s*** because he only K'd 5 and they lost their rent money betting the over on strkeouts.
  18. We're going to have a massive societal gambling problem 10-20 years from now.
  19. Texas is going to win tonight and clinch it for the Jays
  20. Damn. Massive blow this year and next for Baltimore.
  21. The way the question is worded, I think they want you to state what hypothetical slash line would be better. It's an 'OBP > SLG' question.
  22. I think they want the answer to be hitter . They're looking for someone to understand that OBP is more valuable than SLG, and someone with a 1.000 OBP would be the most valuable hitter in history, even if it came 100% from BBs.
  23. That's a bad take. Most/every question is well-designed to determine whether the applicant understands a principle the team thinks is important. And it's hard to take issue with what they seem to value.
