Yeah, I've contributed to bringing the league great shame. I'm going to stop arguing now. Unless someone else says Matt Shoemaker is waiver draft fodder.
I think our deal was fair. You got two good assets that you put to excellent use, and I got a guy I'm comfortable rolling with as an SP 5 or 6, who has the potential to be better if he maintains his play from this year. I like taking fliers on guys like this.
Well I don't actually believe you're stupid enough to think a mid round pick is more valuable than Shoemaker. You probably shouldn't have said it though.
Lol, so mid round pick > Chacin > Shoemaker
If you wouldn't move a mid round pick for Shoemaker, you should just quit the league. But like I said, I think you were talking out our ass to defend your buddy when you posted earlier.
Has Chacin ever even had a season that would rank him as a top-300 player in our settings? I have a hard time wrapping my head around him being anything but a guy you stream on a Sunday.
I've really gotten away from taking inferior players just because they're younger. Miller has good stuff, but he was replacement-level in our league this year while Shoemaker threw 136 innings with more than 5 K/BB (+ a great playoff start).
IMO Miller vs. Shoemaker depends on where your team is in the standings. As a team that wants to win next year, I'll take Shoemaker who I see as being more bankable. If I'm rebuilding, I probably dream on Miller's potential. Maybe.
Oh I'm not worried about your team - I'm just stating that conviction that Shoemaker is garbage, and an inability to see that he's a fair bit more valuable than Ryan Vogelsong is the type of analysis you would expect from a guy who averages ~45 games under 0.500 per season.
I understand selling him now if someone is willing to offer a price that reflects his potential, but you need to get a very good player in return. Two of the three relevant pieces going to Gibbers were acquired by Z3r0s for f***ing Matt Shoemaker.
