  1. They're going to end up replacing Saunders with a similar bat who plays the OF like Eric Thames.
  2. My god the mariners are an awful org.
  3. Oh I agree l. Definitely relievers, and starters in some situations. It's something to be assessed on a case by case basis though. I have no problem with the team holding on Bau and Edwin and enjoying that sweet surplus value.
  4. Not just here. All the time. I just don't understand the absolute conviction that all players must be traded at their peak value.
  5. I brought up his fantasy team because it's kind of annoying that he's condescending about keeping any player past 27-28, but his team of kids in the DDL is a disaster. No MLB team has had success without veteran talent, and to this point Gibbers has failed to even sniff the DDL playoffs. Maybe, just maybe, trading your best players before they hit 28 isn't the best way to win.
  6. I'd easily move Lawrie, Sanchez, and Norris for Donaldson.
  7. Well that was a bad read.
  8. Yup, it was nice letting Howard and Lundqvist do their thing today. Pretty happy to have two quality starters.

  10. The difference being that a Donaldson extension is actually feasible for this org, while a $300 million Stanton extension probably isn't.
  11. I really don't understand how you can just disregard two years of team control. Even if you think Donaldson is a 4.5 win player and Stanton a 6-win player.
  12. Nobody has said anything worth mocking.
  13. Flyers are down 5-4 and Luke Schenn is -5.
  14. What if Stanton gets hurt again? What if Donaldson gets better?
  15. 4 years of control >>>>>>>> 2 years of control With their 2015 projections basically a wash, there isn't an argument for Stanton.
  16. All things considered, clearly Donaldson right now.

Ryan Kesler off to a hot start for Anaheim.
  18. Donaldson is interesting because he'll hit free agency entering his age-33 season which should prevent a 7-8 year mega-deal. If you acquire him, you count on superstar Donaldson over the next 2-3 arb years, but there's also the possibility that he extends for a palatable amount of money given his age. It's an opportunity to add a franchise talent for close to a decade if things go well.
  19. So yahoo isn't bother to indicate which players are playing this year? I check in at 6:45 to see who's playing, and nothing is indicated.
  20. I love the aspect of trying to find wingers who take faceoffs though. FO's >>>>> SH % (or plus/minus) for me.
  21. Anybody else see Hanley as the biggest landmine in this year's free agent class? Do not want, at all.
  22. The point was that Stanton is not better than Donaldson. Trout is better than Donaldson.
  23. If it were 4 years of Stanton and not Donaldson nobody would hesitate. Donaldson is so underrated.
  24. But what are we giving up? A reliever, a guy who can't stay on the field enough to put up 2 wins, and a very good pitching prospect. For 4 years of a legit MVP candidate in his prime, that's not too much.
  25. Both, I guess, though I'm a lot closer to agreeing with your approach to real baseball when salaries are involved.
