  1. "Post mortem on the 2014 season" as per FAN590
  2. 1. Try to sign Melky 2. See how Pompey does in the AFL Then decide what to do Can't decide now
  3. No. it was "angryrioter" who picked 83. Look again.
  4. 83 looking pretty good 82-84 in play Hurl is dumn
  5. Bump for final weekend
  6. I can't decide if a I want the Orioles to kick some ass in the post season or get humiliated in the first round
  7. Missed the game. Checked the highlights section to see how we scored. Found out I'd missed The Pompey Show.
  8. Just pulled up the MLB At Bat to see what's happened in the game. Pompey show it's been I gather?
  9. Aroldis Chapman Yu Darvish
  10. 2015 Club option 13.5M with a 1M buyout Zero chance Texas picks that up. He'll be a free agent by November.

  12. Just finished reading though. He's been mostly playing at DH. Is he even a legit 2B option any more???
  13. Please please please for once land a solid international FA player We just so happen to desperately need a MIF
  14. I suppose though - Pompey will have a month in the AFL and a month of spring training. He does have a real chance of impressing enough to win a job out of spring training. The only thing I don't want to see is AA letting Colby and Melky both walk and feel like he has enough outfielders without them. That would be very dangerous. I still want Melky retained.
  15. Well I've just about given up on Gose improving his hitting. In 200 major league games over 3 seasons he owns a .233/.301/.330 slash line and nothing I see suggests to me he's going to hit any better than that. A .300 OBP for a speed guy with zero power just isn't very good. The defense is so good that I could live with that hitting if he doesn't face lefties but yes, I'd rather have a more well rounded player at such an important position. Pillar isn't particularily fast, nor a great defender, and he has very little power too. I think he's a good AAAA backup. But yeah I can see the OF for most of next year being Melky, Gose, Pompey, Bautista
  16. So, at risk of SSS over reaction, Pompey looks like he has the potential to be a more well rounded player than Gose (3 tool player who can't hit) and a higher ceiling than Pillar (who seems to have no above average tools at all) That said he likely starts 2015 in Buffalo, but has Pompey already passed Pillar on the depth chart? It's tough because the SSS doesn't just apply to the majors, but at every level of the minors since he never stayed at one level more than a couple of months. We have full seasons of minor league hitting info on Gose and Pillar. Pompey kept hitting at every level, with power, on his way up. And the eye test is favorable - more power than Pillar, better plate coverage than Gose (faint praise I suppose, is there anyone with worse plate coverage than Gose?). Still need to temper expectations but... I'm excited to see what he can do and am glad they didn't trade him.
  17. How is he qualified??
  18. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/mlb/d-backs-hire-dave-stewart-as-new-general-manager?ymd=20140925&content_id=96368972&vkey=news_mlb
  19. So... Buck isn't becoming team president then?
  20. What sucks of course, is that if we'd won 3-4 more games in August/Sept, this would have been very exciting right now... Even if ultimately Baltimore smacked us down again this weekend and eliminated us.
